Hello,
The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.
I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene
sorry the wrong picture posted, here is where you can view the correct one ... http://www.fixya.com/support/r9991618-wr...
Gene,
I also posted a premium chat question and I was told the problem is a bad inlet valve. I'm confused. This seems to be two different answers.
it could be the water valve leaking.. do you see any ice build in freezer under the lowest bin/basket? if no it may very well be the water valve leaking if ice under basket it is drain but by pouring water in the area shown on back wall of freezer and see if it drains will tell if drain is blocked but i have seen several water valves leak and apoligize for not thinking of that if that is what it urns out to be
Gene,
There is a layer of ice under the lowest basket. There is also ice marks on the inside center of the door (outer side of shelves. No ice on side walls and the ice maker itself looks clean. We got home from vacation a couple of weeks ago and turned our well back on and started the ice maker (dropped the bar) and for two days, no ice. Then small crescents, then larger, then it seemed normal. Then we started to notice the water on the floor. The "fingers" inside the maker are pointed up, about 10:00 position. That seems normal. I though maybe some setiment from the well got into the water line and when we then started getting ice, I thought water pressure had worked it free. But the water on the floor is confusing. The puddles are getting progressively bigger too. I did check the ice mold and it looks crack-free.
Maybe this is too much information but since you aren't looking at the unit, I wanted to be thorough. I just don't want to go out and purchase a water inlet valve if that's not the problem. Could the drain tube be an issue?
I have already paid for the chat service, just so you know. I'm a true believer in Fixya.com and am glad to pay for the advice. You guys helped me with a Kenmore dryer problem a while back and the experience was pure poetry!
Thanks.
Rich
Morning Rich, I too am a true believer of FIXYA and for every answer i am paid for,i answer more in the free section. I want to thank you for being very through in what your experiencing with your water leak..all we have to to diagnose a problem by email is based on what you(the asker) tells us since we are not able to see in in person. Now then it sounds to me like a combanation of problems..the layer of ice under the basket in the freezer is a sure sign of a blocked defrost drain, however that would only leave a small puddle under the freezer door once every couple days (since it only defrost every couple days) a constant leak would very likely be from a water valve..now as i suggest to clear the blocked drain the proper way to do it is pull the ref. out and remove the drain line from behind and clear it and exactly where the drain line is in the rear the water valve is very close by in the rear and while removing that drain line it should be very easy to see if the water valve has a pin hole in it and spraying water all the time,i do think sight unseen now that may be the case since only a small amount of water would leak out the freezer door and a constant growing puddle would be from a leaking water valve. So when cleaning the drain line to prevent the ice/water build up under the freezer basket look at the water valve for a mist out of it..typucally when the valve does leak it will be a pinhole and be a realitive small yet very noticable leak/spray. Good luck GENE

How do I change the water valve for the ice maker? Water part do I order? Can I get step -by-step instructions for this repair?
Hi Rich,
The part number for the water valve is WR57X10012 while the part is slightly different this youtube video will show ya step by step how to replace it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VpP7n3Ee...
Gene,
Thanks for the help. Now, I have one more part # I need help with. The "Ice - Water" slider in front panel of the fridge panel is in need of replacement. Same deal, I need part #, vid and place to order. Is this hard to replace?
rick, by slider do ya mean the selector switch that ya would use to select ice/water or crushed/cubed ice that is in the front of the dispenser ?? if that is whatr ya mean the part number for it is WR55X129 havent found a video for that but to replace it the cover on front of it which basically is the face plate pops off with slight finger pressure and their are a few screws that hold the selector switch asm on ,would just need to remove those screws and unplug the plugs on it,they are keyed and will only fit on one way on the slide switch asm. As far as where to order them, geographically i do not know where ya re so i could not reccomend a local appliance parts store to ya but a few online places would be searspartsdirect.com, repairclinic.com,apdepot.com, partselect.com you copuld find your local appliance parts store by googling "appliance parts"
Gene, I finally got a chance to do this repair. I replaced the water inlet valve after defrosting the freezer and reoving all ice. I hooked everything up and although I get water through the door, it's been two hours and the ice maker hasn't filled the molds yet... Is this a problem?
