Sticking trays in dvd drive.

The disk tray often gets stuck with the older models of the Xbox 360. After opening the tray, lightly spray some WD-40 onto the areas where the tray moves along.
As for not reading games, it's important that you find whether the issue is the game or the Xbox. Try playing the game on another Xbox console. If it works, your DVD drive is most likely faulty.

This is going to be a bit long -- but very detailed, so please read it carefully. There are several reasons that an xbox 360 system will have problem reading discs. The error messages also vary from unreadable disk, no message at all but the game skips, "please insert disc in a 360 console" to "open tray." There are a few reasons this may happen:

1. Bad disc. Check the back of your disc for scratches. If it looks good (or plays fine in another console), then the disc is probably fine. Also-- try more than 1 game to be sure.

2. Bad laser. The XBox 360 has a DVD drive very similar to a PC's DVD drive inside. The drive contains a bunch of parts including a few motors and gears and a laser. The laser is the part that actually reads the disc. The reality is... with all the hours and hours of gameplay, lasers do eventually wear out. 3. Bad DVD Drive. Sometimes other components inside of the DVD drive can become bad such as the motor that spins the disk, the motors that open the tray, etc, etc. You can get a new DVD drive to just replace everything, including the laser, in one shot but there is a catch. The XBOX 360's DVD drive is tied to the motherboard using a software lock. The easiest way to overcome this lock is to buy the exact same manufacture DVD drive that is in your system now, remove the circuit board from the old DVD drive (which contains the software key) and transfer the circuit board into the new DVD drive that you purchase. If you do this simple procedure, there is no flashing involved. Yes , open up your CD drive remove
the top cover ,turn the belt on the pully
CC like you did before to pull the tray out
till it stops. There should be two small tabs
on etch edge at the end of the tray lift them
and pull this should relase the tray from
the drive . now look down in the frount
of the drive there are to leaf switches on
etch side the they should be straight.
the cats may have bent one of them with
his paws . I guess the cat will stay away
from your xbox now.

after taking the entire drive apart i found that the laser / moter assembly was offset. this ment that the disk was tilted 1degree towards the laser and intern hittng the laser assembly that so many peopl think is "laser burn" which actualy is the disk physically hitting the laser. how u fix this is as easy as adjusting two screws were the moter and the laser/ tray assembly meat. now thses arnt nomal phillips, flat head or torx scews. i found that stickin a drill bit in the screw head annd turnin it with some pliers did the trick. this fixes the open tray error for good unless the disk is causing it. IF anyone gets open tray ocasionally this should stop it for good. also try cleaning inside of drive make sure connection to drive is good. try turning the system on then emmidiatly opening and closing the tray a couple time.

There is a problem with your disc tray. it depends on you if you want to send it in for repairs or just stick with it.

Might as well call xbox customer support to check the warranty status of your xbox 360.. Goodluck

common xbox flaw mine does the same ,just keep opening and closeing the tray till it reads the disk,this can be very annoying .your dvd tray is probally on the way out

their is a lil hole on the front stick a pin in their and push, its the manual eject, and then pull the tray open, it should play your disks, but obv its annoying but it soulds like the mechanisms, and i dont think microsoft do repair on the hd dvd drive.

no you cant really download any game unless it is an arcade game but if your disk tray problem isnt fixed you could always change your face plate that was always my problem with my disc tray if you cant fix it thaT way you could check for a warranty and send your x box in

new dvd player

Try opening the disk tray with the 360 off. Push a paper clip into 1 of these holes in your 360. It will pop the tray out. Grab the tray pull it out all the way. Put a game in, leave it open! Then turn your 360 on see if it boots the game.
