Hi there maytag speed queen dryer LGS10AW-@ 13 yrs old- trips the breaker everytime the button is pressed to start it---just started doing this----breaker is fine simple and economical to fix or should we look at a new dryer?

Is there power at the dryer receptacle? Is the dryer wired directly or does wire from electrical breaker go to a receptacle first? Have it checked with a meter. If unit is wired directly have it changed to a receptacle and cord. Make sure there is power at the connections on the dryer. If everything is okay, then it is a dryer problem

My first thought is the motor start capacitor. This 'kicks' the motor up to speed. If it shorts, the unit will blow the breaker.

Make sure that the drum turns easily by pulling on the belt. If not, find out why...that's the problem.

Make sure the unit is unplugged before starting any work!
