Check fuel level and make sure the fuel valve is on. Beyond that inspect the spark plug for fouling. Use the choke appropriately. If it has been run with the choke on, it may have carboned up the plug. Make sure the magneto grounding switch is in the run position.

Hi,
The first thing I would check is the oil level...when the oil was hot it still was high enough to keep it running, but then it cooled down the oil level drops slightly and then the oil sensor will not allow it to start,
Check oil and add as needed and then retry to start.

I would be draining everything out of the carb. then draining the fuel tank and cleaning everything... dirt or water in the fuel system somewhere...

Hi! I have a Coleman Powermate 5000 maxa er plus. It wouldn't start so I check out the air filter, it was kind of dirty and I found gas in it. I cleaned my carburetor with carb cleaner even if it was clean...

The engine is pulling secondary air from the torn gasket area by the sound of it. It can't govern itself like that.
That must be fixed before any further tests !

Hello, I'm trying to get an old Coleman Maxa 5000 ER Plus to work again. The interesting problem is that i can get it to start and run, IF i squirt gasoline into the carb throat with a squirt sprayer, but...

First make sure you have fresh gas in the tank, as old gas can cause a 'no run' condition. Once you have fresh gas in the tank, make sure the gas flows freely all the way to the carb by removing the fuel hose from the carb inlet & checking for good flow (bad shut-off valve or obstructed hose by debris could cause same problem). Once you are sure that good, fresh gas is going into the carb w/o obstruction, remove the lower bowl from the carb - carefully - do not lose ANY parts, starting with the washer on the bolt. With fuel flow 'ON', fuel should flow freely when this bowl is removed, so shut off fuel valve in the hose. Now, if you carefully remove the bolt / brass tube from the center of this bowl area (center of plastic float) - remove bolt downward, like you would a lightbulb from the ceiling - this bolt should have several holes in the side, they are probably clogged, so unclog them with a needle or wire, wipe clean, and reinstall. That probably just solved all your problem.... if not, you likely will want to replace the carb completely, as it is not very expensive, and will surely solve your problem. *** Be careful with gas fumes !!! ***

It is not a problem like to know if i can use my coleman 5000 maxa er plus 10 hp. With A welder with out damage it. Tanks

Yes, you can use a welder with it. Pay attention to the ratings of the welder, don't exceed running watts of the generator. It would also be a good idea to try and use a welder that is less than the running watts rating of the generator. Then you would have some extra capacity to deal with fuel quality, maintenance history, momentary undervoltage, altitude, etc.

Powermate Maxa 5000 er will not run stably

Check the fuel filter. My company designed hybrid generators that are far more efficient. They use batteries to power your equipment, and the generator runs intermittantly to recharge the batteries when needed.

If you would like to convert to hybrid, contact me at [email protected]
