Then click on the big button that says "Download Now"
Wait until it's done. Run the program that you've just downloaded. It will install the latest Messenger on your laptop. If you already have a messenger on your laptop, you might need to uninstall it first.
Go to Control Panel
For Windows XP : Double click Add/Remove programs on the Control Panel > then remove Yahoo Messenger.
For Windows Vista and 7 : go to Control Panel > Program and Features > Uninstall Yahoo messenger from there.

The XML application in your computer might be corrupted which Yahoo Messenger uses to display the chat box properly. In most cases, it is the result of a virus/malware activity.


Here's what to do:

• 1. Download the Free Edition of Malware Bytes HERE.
  
• 2. Save the file.
  
• 3. Double click the downloaded file or if prompted to run the file, click yes to install Malware Bytes.
  
• 4. After installation. Launch or Open Malware Bytes. (Double click on the Malware Bytes icon on the desktop).
  
• 5.Click on the Update Tab and click on Check Updates (It will download the latest virus definitions)
  
• 6. After updating, click the Scanner Tab and do a Full Scan.
  
• 7. After scanning, click on View Results.
  
• 8. Then click on Remove Selected.
  

Note:

The Free Edition of Malware Bytes will not conflict your recent anti-virus software because it does not have real time protection features.


Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger again.


If this does not resolve the issue, re-install Yahoo Messenger. Since the Malwares have been removed, there is a great chance that the re-installation will solve the problem.

The "Windows" key on that keyboard, as with most standard PC desktop keyboard is inbetween the left "Ctrl" and left "Alt" keys.

However, I'm not quite sure that will solve your messenger login problem. Is the computer you've written this query from the same as the machine you're trying to sign into your yahoo from?

Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete message history archive on your computer. You can copy it to the same location on another computer if you want to view it there. We've included instructions for Windows XP and Windows Vista users.
To locate your complete message history archive on Windows XP:

1. Open the "Run" command: press Windows Logo+R on your keyboard.
2. Copy and paste the text below into the Run command ' then click OK:

think the plug-in referred to is the Yahoo server one as opposed to any of the plug-ins for Yahoo Messenger
It seems your having trouble navigating the Yahoo Server
Make sure your IE is up to date and not set to 'work offline' in tools - Even if you have another browser set as default IE is interlinked with Messenger
Check you have all your support software loaded for Messenger using the links on this page to help

If you still have a problem try running Yahoo Messenger in Compatibility Mode (if its a windows 7 issue)

Right click on your Messenger desktop icon and select 'Properties' Click the Compatibility tab and select to use compatibility mode - choose an OS that you know was successful and click OK

It is a problem with your windows firewall. Try to turn of your firewall and then download the yahoo messenger and install it. Once the yahoo messenger is installed you can re-enable your firewall.
