Very likely.
Here's why.
Because of the real danger of overheating and fire, dryers are "loaded" with overheat switches which will shut thr dryer off if they get hot.
One reason is that lint catches fire so easily.
Here's hoping you problem will resolve soon!

Electric dryer heats up and blows air but doesnt dry my clothes

I would check to see that the lint/filter isn't completely clogged up. This could make the dryer warm without allowing it to do its job of drying the clothes.
Also, is the drum spinning? If not, it could be indicative of other problems.

Whirlpool gas dryer (LGR8648PW1) doesn't stop spinning in automatic mode.

More than likely a bad timer assembly. They are usually easy enough to replace if you have basic mechanical skills. The part can be ordered from repairclinic.com.

Dryer not drying clothes

Hello, does the dryer drum turn? If the dryer drum is moving. Is the dryer blowing hot air, cold air, no air at all? Now, if it's doing everything mention above escept blowing hot air then you'll need a new heating element. If not blow air, then the drum belt is broken, belt off, or the drum motor has gone south. It was put for a quitt. Which mean in New Mexico, they fired me, I don't work, no job, finished, I'am out of here, don't bury me with my wires exposed. I hope I was some help to you. have a nice day and be safe, GB. stewbison

I have a GE dryer that won't dry our clothes. It heats up, but water is all over the inside door and the lint that comes out of the hose in the back is wet! The outside of the dryer (the top in...

It really sounds like your washing machine is not spinning the clothes out enough. Have they been wetter than usual lately? The dryer could just be struggling to keep up with the heavier / wetter load as there is no reason for it to create moisture on it's own.

Whirlpool dryer is not drying properly. Have to go through a couple of cycles to dry clothes.

2 things are needed to dry clothes. 1 is good air flow. Check to make sure that the dryer vent is not clogged or partially clogged with lint. Also make sure there are no kinks in the vent hose. With the dryer running you should feel good air flow blowing out of the outside house vent. The 2nd thing a dryer needs heat. Check to see that the dryer feels warm to hot when you reach in to tough the clothes. It is possible that the heat element has partially failed. Another thing to investigate is how well the laundry machine is spinning out the water in the spin cycle. This spin cycle is used to get as much water out as possible prior to placing the clothes in the dryer. The wetter the clothes when they come out of the laundry, the longer it takes to dry them.
