WD-65734 Mitsubishi TV won't turn on. System reset

  • Anonymous Aug 27, 2011

No lights of any kind. The problem occurred after a thunderstorm. It was connected to a surge protect device, which shut everything off. All other equipment worked after protect device was reset. Could be the power supply. Need help in further troubleshooting.

Are there any lights lit on the front of the TV? Have you checked for a bad lamp? When you reset the TV the timer/power light should flash on and off rapidly for 60-70 sseconds. Does that happen?

Yes, you're probably right. The power supply is evidently bad. I wouldn't recommend trying to troubleshoot a surge damaged power supply board. There are probably several components damaged on the board, not to mention possible safety issues. It would be much better to replace the entire board.

Same thing on my tv after replacing lamp. Lamp manufacturer advised me that after changing bulb, tv must be reset or tv will go into safety mode and will not turn on. To do this on my model WD-65734 you must hold reset button in with a pen or paperclip for about 10 secs. The LED will start blinking for a few mins. When itstops you need to unplug tv set for about 1 hour. After this the tv will be reset.

Mitsubishi WD-60735 Control issues

This set has aside from the recessed front reset two more done with the Mitsubishi remote.

The soft reset "should" be with set on Menu, 1,2,3, enter

The hard reset requires a 4 digit number code and is based on model number and also done with the Mitsubishi remote--try to see if soft reset works at all on this model.

WD-65734 Mitsubishi TV won't turn on. System reset does nothing. Fuse OK.

Does the front light blink a pattern. If so this may be used to lookup the error codes.

The color on my Mitsubishi WD 65734 rear projection tv just went out. I did not hear anything. I just turned it on and had no color.

With the Mitsubishi remote: have set on and hit Menu, 1,2,3 enter to do a soft reset of the unit.

I would also suggest you check all connections if you are using a box for signal and look to see if have color from DVD or blue ray etc.

Let me know what you find with a comment here before you rate this solution.

Same problem on 18 month old Mitsubishi

As an experiment..plug the tv out of the wall. Wait. plug it back in. Does the green light stop blinking? If so, then the TV needs to go through setup/netcommand again. If not, the problem may not be an easy fix.
