Hi As per your description
it sounds like the motor drive coupler has failed. If the drive coupler fails
you will hear the motor running but nothing will happen except water will pump
out. Tilt the front of the washer up a couple of inches & look on the floor
for rubber shavings or broken plastic pieces, this will be a sign that the
drive coupler has failed. If the motor is seized up I recommend checking the
pump. If something is lodged in the pump the motor will just hum. Other
possibilities; motor, timer, transmission or harness problems. So tilt the
washer to the back and look closely to the motor, the coupling from motor to
trans may be broken. The motor drives the agitator, using a belt or a drive
shaft. It is possible that the drive belt is broken too. http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/diy-repair-help_2.html#cl_q4 Please get back to us if

The "motor coupling" has broke on the washer. Here is a link to the part you need.
Below is a video to show you how to make the repair.
Good Morning Larry Looney, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire frontload washer is making a humming noise while in spin cycle. This could be a potential problem with your motor or drum bearing. In order to find the proper cause of the humming noise I would highly recommend having a professional technician come out to your home for diagnosis and repair. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases as well as any future issues. -Matt

My husband says that this is one thing he did not check yesterday. He won't be able to get back to looking at this for a few hours because we have another commitment right now (we weren't sure how long it might take to hear back from our query). However, there was a broken plastic piece under the washer when he was looking at stuff yesterday and he couldn't figure out where it came from.
Yes, we found the part and it was broken. Replaced the part, reassembled and the washer sounded as if working normally. Unfortunately, we could never get the tub to actually spin, even though the washer made the same noise as if it was spinning.
Thank you for taking the time to provide a response and post the video. After seeing the first response we did replace the coupler. The repair went pretty smoothly once my husband knew what to look for. Unfortunately, after starting again, the tub would not still not spin. My husband took apart again to make sure it was seated well and reassembled. Although everything sounded normal, etc, the tub still would not spin. We gave up yesterday and bought a new machine.
