You should be able to connect the TV to the antenna without the tuner converter box. If you still do not get signal you may need some type of signal amplifier between the antenna and TV. Hope that helps.
Your tv is a digital tv, so you do NOT need a converter box. The tv has a built in digital tuner. But if you have any other older tv's then what you need is a converter box to convert analog signals to digital. I know there is one in Best Buy (not sure if there is one in your location) but they have one called access digital tv converter. They are about $50 (CAN). You would still need your antenna or however you get your analog signals. The antenna needs to be plugged into your converter box and then the box would need to be connected to your tv.
Yes you need a digital converter box. Your model has an NTSC Analog Tuner. It doesn't have a Digital Tuner. This is why you need the converter box.
For example, many companies like Comcast or Time Warner or TCI etc used to broadcast Analog Signals through their wires. Now they have broadcasted only Digital Signals. This makes either your TV Obsolete as a Tuner or you have to get a digital converter so your Analog TV can receive the signal.
Depending on your service, it may be worth your while to get a TV with a digital Tuner.
Then again, it also depends on if you are connecting a box receiver to your TV. For example, if you have Directv or Dish, you would then use your standard Video/Audio or Composite Cables to transmit your signal OR your Out to TV Coaxial whichever works for your receiver. Some receivers have already built in converters . You should really consider all the factors to decide and determine it based on the type of service you have or want.
Can't find the specs but i presume it's an analog NTSC set. You will need a converter to convert the new off air ATSC digital format and if you're on cable, unless they are still converting to analog, you'll need a converter there too. Some cable systems (Comcast being one) will require their own cable box to index the digital channels and convert to analog ch 3 or 4 for your TV.
U have paid cable, u don't need the converter box.Not even the analog tv require the coverter box, if u have paid cable or satalite tv or telicom signal. All ur tvs is hook up to the Comcast Cable correct? That all u need not, require the converter box.
The conversion to digital affects off air reception. Since you have Comcast analog cable, you will not be affected until Comcast decides to discontinue analog cable, which is not likely any time soon. When that day comes, your old VCR will probably grace a landfill anyhow, and you will need a converter box from Comcast.
You will need a splitter and an rf modulator to do timed recording of programs. The instructions are on the dtv answers website, option # 2, record and watch a different channel. The recording is for the analog stations 1-24. You cannot record the higher stations. The items I purchased were a 3 way splitter $7 at local hardware store, an rf modulator $25 at Radio Shack. The other option was to get a cable box for the tv and record off of that at $6.95 a month or a DVR for $8.99 per month, all from comcast. The price that I paid for the items I needed would be repaid in 3 months if I were to go the comcast route. The conversion is nothing more than a money making scheme for them.
