I have it setup to DVD. Need to know the correct way to setup my tv Sharp Aquos to the receiver so I can hear the sound from all speakers.
I have the Samsung 61" DLP HDTV and the Samsung Blu-ray BD-P1500 and the Onkyo HT-R500 receiver. I have the TV connected via HDMI (HDMI 3/DVI) to my HD DVR from my cable company and the Blu-ray player connected to the TV as well (HDMI 1). I have a fiber optic connection from the receiver to the Blu-ray (since the P1500) does not have digial coax ouput for connection to the receiver. With Speaker A button pushed, and all my speakers are wired, the only sound I get from my 5.1 channel system is static from the front right and front left speakers so I know there is a connection. When I try to listen to the DVD Player (which was working without the receiver as a Stereo only-mode), I had sound but now that the 5.1 channel system is connected, there's no sound while watching a DVD nor can I hear anything with my CD Player which is connected with standard red/white RCA cables.
Any advice on how to get the sound or what "settings" I am missing?
Thanks

Insted of running it thru the tv an to the reciver try doing it directly from the DVD player to the reciver just the audio jacks
