Hi I have a ZBF 260X which is about 3 years old. I was doing a long slow cook of a joint (130 degrees) when the kitchen suddenly filled with smoke and the meat began to burn. The oven seemed to have suddenly got very very hot. I am now unable to turn off the light by the temperature knob at all - it is on whatever we turn the dial to and whether the oven is on or off. Continue to press the button until the display indicates the desired cook time in one-hour increments up to 10 hours. The cooker will automatically adjust the temperature setting based on the amount of time you programmed on the timer. Cooking times of six hours or less automatically start on "High" heat and times of seven hours or more will start on "Low" heat. A small indicator light will come on below the word to tell you the cooking temperature.

Probably due to a fault on the oven heating element. Check continuity and earth with a multimeter if you can but it's odds on you will need a new heating element.

I recommend you buy a cheap oven thermometer and check the oven temperature yourself. As a gasfitter I know temperature conversions (numbers to degrees) are approximate and I think may be done on purpose so consumers won't complain if they put a thermometer int he oven and it differs from the thermostat. Check the temperature in the centre of the oven. do not use pans and trays that fill the sheld as gas ovens need room to circulate the hot air. Also do not place items in the oven so the top of it is near the top of the oven - otherwise it will burn. I have found when cooking a chicken it needs to be turned otherwist the bottom of it may not be cooked.

soundsas if you have a dirty stove, Id reccommend running through en extended cleaning cycle, it will SMOKE, that s geting rid of any food/grease trapped inside the flue and cabinet of unit

I am pretty sure this is just the steam escaping. Smeg ovens seal so evenly that the steam stays in the oven.

really the only reason for smoke is fat on the elements especially the grill element. suspect problem may be due to what you are cooking
