With the foot pedal connected, you need to push the play button on the unit. Then the pedal will operate.

Panasonic transcriber foot pedal rp-2692 not backspacing.

I would call service and see what they recommend, I have never seen the problem posted on this site, but I really doubt it will be just a small part the same as before..

When using the foot pedal for forward playback to transcribe, when you lift your foot to stop the tape continues forward for about a second.

It sounds to me that you might have a mechanical problem in the machine. I am not familiar with this machine, but I have worked on lots of tape machines. The belts and rubber pieces can get slick or stretched causing problems.

During transcription, when you release the foot pedal, the tape automatically rewinds a little so you can resume easily. This no longer happens with my machine. I have tried several foot pedals, but the...

It could be the rewind solenoid is jamed up or there is a switch that comes loose under the tape deck. Either way, it will need to be serviced.

Have a panasonic RR930 microcassette transcriber. Right now the foot pedal will not allow rewind though when I press the pedal I can hear it engage. I can, however, rewind right on the unit itself. ...

If neither rewind nor backspace work, the common problem would be that the solenoid grease has dried up and the solenoid is not retracting all the way. However, the track that the mechanism moves in also wears out, as well as the plastic rocker that depresses the rewind button where it engages the metal slide.

If backspace works but not rewind from the pedal then the problem is the pedal.

My Panasonic RR-930 transcriber speeds up and slows down as I play back tapes. The problem seems to be with the machine itself and not the foot pedal or the tapes. Where do I start?

Start by cleaning the capstan roller. The rubber roller and small steel rod just above it, control the tape speed. Just a little lint, build up or animal hair wrapped around this can cause the speed to vary. Clean with alcohol and a Q-tip.

Foot pedal FF or Rewinds when pressing Play

It's possible that there's a broken wire in the cable that connects the foot control to the machine. This usually happens near the plug that plugs into the machine, or by the end that goes into the foot control.

You can usually duplicate it if you put the auto-backspace up a bit and then hold down the play pedal on the foot control. While holding down the play pedal, try moving the cable near the machine or near the foot control in a circular motion. If the machine stops, rewinds or fast forwards, then odds are that the problem is with the cable.

Panasonic RR-830 only rewinds and fast-forwards, will not play

If the foot pedal is pluged in, press the play button and then you should be able to activate it with the pedal.
