I found this on line ... 6/15/09 . Does your Maytag Neptune front loader sound like a runaway freight train when it is in high speed spin cycle? 2. Is your Neptune getting so loud that you cannot be in the same room while it is spinning your clothes? It sounds like your bearings may need some attention if you answered YES to the questions See www.neptunebearing.com ... Frank [email protected]

There is 2 possible problems. 1. Pump will make noise as soon as the drain and spin starts. 2. Rear bearing this noise usually starts later in cycle as the drum gets up to final speed. The rear bearing of coarse is the most expensive of the two as it is part of the outer tub.

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

we have the same problem - help!
Actually, when it is spinning it is quiet until it sometimes shuts off at high rpm. Then it sounds like a horn or siren dropping quickly in frequency (pitch) and comes to an quick stop. No vibration problem. The power and power red light both go off. I am having some door lock issues again so this might be related. Maybe this is what you get when the unit shuts down during spin. It is shutting off on fill and wash too and I have to push start/stop button to get the washer running (and the power on light on again). Sometimes the door lock light does not come on at all when this happens. Sometimes the door lock light will not go off unless I pull the power cord. Do you think I should replace the wax motor again first? The R11 resistor is OK this time.
I have a similar issue... loud plane taking off during the spin cycle. Is there a lubricant that can be applied?
Upon final spin cycle, a jet takes off in my laundry room. So loud, I have to close the door, and go to the far end of the house, just so my ears don't hurt. Am actually afraid the washer will one day explode, and kill me while I'm closing the door.
sounds likw airplane taking off. was told bearings are going out & you have to replace the whole drum. about $650.00. now it leaks water & oil.
I have the same problem .. sounds like an airplane during the spin cycle. Any ideas?
