Question about Air Conditioning and Heat for Kia Spectra5

1 Answer

Air conditioning problem in a Kia Spectra 5 2005. I took in in for check up because the a/c wasn't refreshing, it was actually blowing out hot air. At the Kia Service Authorized garage they checked it and they told me the compressor, evaporator were in fine condition, tha it had the gas was ok, and that the parts & components for the a/c were all basically functioning correctly, that he tested it manually and that everything worked, but when he turned the a/c on with the button, "supposedly" the compressor didn't recieve the "signal" to start. He said he "thinks" it's an electrical problem. But if you turn in on, at tines it does throw cold air. he mentioned he had serviced another kia like mine, same year & miodel for the same and the only way he could "solve" the problem was throwing a direct line from the battery to the compressor, but that when he tried the same on my car but it didn't work. And still I think "his" solution does't correct the problem, it only solves the issue temporarily. Please help!!

His answer is totally weak. Without all of the info needed these are probably the issue: 1. A/C system itself is fine, the blending door inside the dash that blends either exterior or interior air with hot and cold air to give you the desired temperature is sticking closed blocking cold air, or an electrical problem with the environmental control unit. Either way the dealer should know what to do besides a jumper wire to "make it work". suggest different service tech or dealer

Sounds an awful lot like a head gasket. Check your oil and if it is light brown instead of dark brown order a gasket kit.

2004 kia spectra has blowing air but know heat.

Heat and air conditioning are in separate systems. If you aren't getting heat, the first step is to check your coolant level. Low coolant can result in improper flow through the heater core. If you do have low coolant, be on the lookout for a coolant leak! If your coolant isn't low, then there is going to be an issue with circulation through the heater core. The heater core could be clogged in some way or another.1

Blowing hot air when on ..volume of air is fine..started weaking and finally no cold air

If the it is still blowing air yet not cooling the air, you may have to check that your air conditioning unit may need re-gasing. Heres a video which demostrates how the (genaric) re-gasing would work.

Air conditioning sometimes takes a while to start blowing air

Do you mean it takes a while to blow air or cold air? I am going to assume you mean cold air. Sometimes it can take a few seconds for the refrigerant to get up to speed. Especially when real hot outside. If the air is not getting cold for a long time you may have a leak. Refrigerant systems are sealed and in theory, with no leak, will always blow cold. Before you charge the coolant in your system fix the leak first or you are wasting your money. If this does not answer your question please be a bit more specific. Good luck.

The heater on my 1995 Kia Amanti is not blowing air on the drivers side floor. The air is hot just not blowing out.

Sounds like your blower motor went out, or you blew a fuse. Check all fuses first before looking up the cost of a new blower motor.

Hope that helps!

Kia spectra 2004 AC no power blows hot air

In almost every case, it is most likely low on freon. Most all systems use some type of pressure switch to prevent the unit from freezing up via a low pressure switch. It also acts as a "Loss of Charge" safety. I would think there is a leak. Most of the time it is in the condenser, evap, or compressor. Usually not real cheap to fix but you got to check it out to be sure.

Air Conditioning

Check your pressures again. Jump the pressure switch and see if this makes the compressor come on. If it does then jump it long enough to get some more freon into the system. This should give switch enough pressure.

Make sure your vacuum is good on the system before you fill.
