Black mold inside unit, fan becoming noisy, I have a hunch that it,too, is covered with black mold.

sounds like the bearings are bad in the motors. It would be cheaper to replace unit than fixing it. new fans/motors would cost more.

Any mold in any part of the unit is not good, especially if its in the Styrofoam, Styrofoam has pores and hides the mold spores well, it would be dangerous to actually run the unit with mold spores as it can travel inside the house. Unfortunately companies that make these units don't make these units mold proof, why should they? that's how they make their money. I have three units, one has always given me problems with mold. It always comes back. The other two are always clean. My best advice, get rid of the unit and get another one or get a free estimate on Central air and heat. Mold is very dangerous and is not worth the risk, it can cause a number of medical issues.

please try to put some oil to the screw to lubricate it...so its more easier to remove it..

and its better if the size of your screw driver is fit to the screw to avoid loose (+) head of screw or worn out...turn it counter clockwise with the full force..

Many newer units are made to retain the water and splash it onto the condenser coil... Clorox in the water will kill the mold and not hurt anything... You can carefully drill a hole if you want..

It's noisy Noise can come from these areas: The inside of the freezer The outside back of the refrigerator The bottom of the refrigerator The inside of the freezer Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move the air through the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This fan runs whenever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer, as follows: If the freezer is on top, the fan is on the back wall, near the top or bottom, in the center of the freezer. If the freezer is on the bottom, the fan is on the back wall, near the top of the freezer. If the freezer is on the left, the fan is on the back wall, halfway up or near the top. Over time, the fan may become noisy--usually making a chirping or squealing sound, though it may make a loud groaning noise instead. To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push in any fan/light switches. If the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause. You can't lubricate or repair this motor. You must replace it. The outside back of the refrigerator There are three components on the outside back of the refrigerator that may become noisy: the compressor, the condenser fan motor (if self-defrosting), or the defrost timer (if self-defrosting). The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. You can see it on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. It is usually black and has black or copper-colored tubes and various colored wires attached to it. If the compressor is the device making noise, there is probably no repair that will reduce the noise. You will have to replace it--which can be quite costly. If the condenser fan is making noise, there may be a build-up of lint or other debris on the fan blade. The fan is located near the back of the machine, sometimes behind a thin panel. To clean it, first unplug the refrigerator, remove the thin panel, and use a soft bristle brush to clean it. If there is no lint build-up or debris on the blade, you will have to replace the motor. The defrost timer is often located at the bottom of the refrigerator it may make noise

bleach is always good i suggest you cover the dishwasher with a good plastic film after you spay it with bleach to keep the mould inside it till you can remove it

if the fan is noisy it can be two dirt or grit affecting the propeller or the baring on the motor shaft

There is a product on the market that will prevent mold from growing in your air conditioner.You should be able to find it at a refrigeration supply house.Just take the product and place it in the area where the water collects.There is also a product to help you clean your unit of contaminants on the heat exchanger surfaces.It simply sprays on,and can be later rinsed off.Its usually a straight forward matter to remove the cover from an air conditioner.Usually no more than 4 screws.Some units will slide out of their covers,after removing the screws that keep them locked in place,and some covers simply lift off from the rest of the unit once the screws are removed.In either case the rest of the unit minus the cover will remain intact,and can be cleaned.Cleaning the unit will almost always make it work better too,so your killing two birds with one stone.

If the inside fan got loud because it developed mold, the only cure is to keep cleaning it.

Either the fan motor has gone bad or the coils under the fridge are too dirty. Both will cause a no cool situation and cause this area to become too hot. Part of the coil runs thru the cabinet in this area to prevent sweating. This is a good indication of dirty coils or a bad/weak fan motor. If your fan was noisy I would replace it before it goes out completely. This excessive heat will lead to premature compressor failure.
