I have the Panasonic KX-TG4500 4 line cordless phone system. It was purchased new in April '07. I have replaced the base unit battery once since. \r\n\r\nCame in on Monday to a slowly flashing display, "O: Base Set date & time." Tried to push Menu button to access the menu for resetting date & time. It didn't work. Checked for dialtone, none. Called in from cell phone to see if the base unit would ring. No ring. Tried the reset button on the bottom of the base unit, still doesn't work. Tried to unplug the power, and plug back in, then push the reset button on the bottom. No help. Also tried a different power cord from one of the handsets and reset button on base unit. Still doesn't work. I have tred everything I can think of except for replacing the base unit battery, and buying a new power cord (heavy duty) and then a complete reinstall/reboot. Ideas anyone? Would a dead base unit battery cause the system to not work if the power cord was still working? Thanks for any help extended.
I bought a new battery and generic power cord thru Amazon. The battery was only a year old, and it should last about 2yrs. Anyway, while waiting for the battery to arrive, I tried rebooting everything and was successful in getting the base unit to work. I now have an extra backup battery and power cord on hand if needed. I'd advise anyone who has one of these systems to keep a backup battery for the base unit and handsets on hand. No one had them locally.I bought a new battery and generic power cord thru Amazon. The problem sounds like it is the main base, the only advice I can give is change the phone cord between the base and the wall to see if that will help, the only other option is check the base for connection issues "inside the unit" and finally check your phone company and ask for a technician to find out if there is issues with the phone lines. If you still have problems, try a replacement base.
* CHECK YOUR AC OUTLET WITH NO LOOSE CONNECTIONS.(remove multi adapters mostly caused problems)
* FULLY RECHARGE THE BATTERIES.
* CLEAN DE BATTERY CONTACTS IN & OUTSIDE THE HANDSET & THE BASE UNIT.
* IS THE BATTERIES DON'T GET CHARGED FULLY IN OVER NIGHT.PLEASE REPLACE THOSE.
* REPLACE WITH ONLY RECOMMENDED RECHARGEABLE BATT"S.
* PLACE THE BASE UNIT AT CENTRALIZED AREA FOR THE MAXIMUM HANDSET RADIATION.
* KEEP THE BASE UNIT AT SAME FLOOR.
Panasonic KX-TG1050N Cordless Phone. Base handset (No. 1, KX-TGA100N) does not work, no keypad response or dial tone. Green indicator message light ON (should only work with the TG1000N base unit) all the time till battery runs down. Display shows message ?C533?. Can still send and receive calls on extension phones 2 and 3.
