Hello there and welcome to fixya
It doesn't pump or spin
If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:
If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.
If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
It pumps, but doesn't spin
If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:
The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.
A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)
The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.
The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.
The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Defy twin tub 800. Why is the washer drain water filling up spinner drum?

The 'flat black round rubber' part is a non return valve so that water can't flow back washer to spinner, or spinner to washer. That part needs replacing. These machines are not available to us in North America, but this link should work well for you.

My defy dtl 151 isn't pumping out water. Machine is about 1 year old. What can I check?

do u mean its not draining or adding water to go into agitation>

Washer will not drain:

The drain water pump is the main part in your washing machine that pumps out the water. If this is defective or has failed in any way, this will be the reason why your washer will not drain the water. Before you order a new drain pump, make sure to check the pump to be sure a small object like clothing or similar has not lodged itself inside of it causing the NO DRAIN issue and even a no spin issue?. If the drain pump is not clogged, you can test it with a multimeter and remove and replace if needed.

The washing machine drain hose is where the water flows through to get the water out. If this drain hose is blocked, kinked, bent, or clogged, the washer will NOT be able to remove the water from the tub. Check the drain hose to be sure it allows the water to flow freely. You can take the drain hose off and run water through it in your sink to be sure it is not blocked. If there is water STILL in the washer when you remove the drain hose, grab a bucket as the water will exit from where you disconnected it

The water pump belt (to drain out the water) may have broke or become frayed or loose. If this belt breaks then it is unable to drain and remove the water from your washer. Inspect the belt to see if this is causing the NO DRAIN issue and remove and replace if needed.

If the lid switch is not working as required it will cause your washer to not drain (and many other problems). This may be unlikely as a bad lid switch will usually cause your washer to also not agitate or spin. However on some models this can vary. The best thing to do if you have a suspected bad lid switch is to test it. It can fail electrically and or mechanically. If mechanical failure is the issue, you should be able to see if it is cracked, broken, or not in place to make contact with the lid. To test it electrically, use a multimeter set on Ohms and test it for continuity

What's your question?defy toploader drain motor keeps running as soon as power switched on!!

Hi some machines do this to empty any water that may have been sitting in the bottom of your washing machine and the water has went stagnant. It should stop when you start a new washing cycle if it does not you will have to have your machine looked as it would just be draining the water as it goes in.

Why would my Defy 600 Automaid drum stop spinning?

The pressure sensor might be faulty. Something is telling the control that it is too full of water so the pump starts to empty it to avoid flooding. This is usually the water level or pressure switch.

See manual for your unit at this site.

Defy Laundromaid 1300 has a serious leak. I've checked the filter, and there is nothing in it to cause it to leak. We had a Defy techinician come out and he also cannot find the leak. Please advise...

water pump is not functioning properly, when in spin cycle water in drum pushes up and over the top, symptom is water leaking out the bottom which indicates a leak but its actually the water pump not pumping out all the water. Gets air trapped in the pump which results in air lock and no head for the pump to function properly. Fix is to lower your drain pipe to same level as pump when in spin cycle so that the water runs out freely this will not solve the problem but will allow you to continue washing until you have the problem sorted.

Water will not drain .cycle stops , will not start even on new cycle

The water will have to be evacuated first. there may be a blockage either in the outlet of the dishwasher or the drain connection under the sink. The dishwasher tries to drain at the very start of the cycle. If this doesnt happen then a new cycle wont start.
