Blue screen could be the windows files getting corrupted due to a virus, file fragmentation or a failing hard drive, overheating cpu or failing memory.
The beeping usually indicates a hardware failure, first open the computer and see it the CPU heatsink is in place properly seated and fan is connected and spinning.
Second with the PC off, remove and reinsert the memory.
These are just a few things to check , most likely the hard drive has failed and needs replacing.
pressing certain keys during bootup can sometimes isolate the issue, but only if the monitor still shows a picture
I hope this helps
Thanks
Roety

Do a factory restore on a Inspiron 580

Insert the installation disk that came with the machine. Turn off the machine, then turn on the machine and on the menu screen select install..... but before you do, make sure you have the product key on hand, because it will ask you for the 25 digit product key.

What would cause a Dell Inspiron 580 that powers on but display nothing on the screen?

Some types of memory will only work as matched pairs, try only using two sticks of the same type, Otherwise check your memory and graphics card are seated properly, remove the power cable to the monitor for a few minutes then plug in, check you haven't loosened the monitor cable. Do you get anything onscreen? if you get start up then check BIOS see what memory it reports & the graphics settings. Its most likely something loose or the memory.

What would cause a DELL Inspiron 580 that powers on fail to display anything on the monitor?

You were right that 4 beeps was RAM. Now though, if you're getting no display .. I'm wondering if something may have been bumped etc when you were having to get in the machine. You might want to reseat the video card (if not mainboard video). Note :: Before attaching or detaching monitor cables, be sure the monitor is off as well as the computer. Only usb is safe to manipulate with power on.

First step before doing anything is to make sure all power is off and disconnected from the computer .. and anything connected to it is off too. (not just in standby) .. ok, now that's done, continue..

I'd advise checking any other cables that could have been affected during opening / closing etc .. you may wish to pull & reseat any sata cables going to drives, remove and reseat the video card and generally make sure nothing is on crooked. Sometimes, even connections in a new computer can look fine but until reseated (disconnected & reconnected) they won't work quite right or intermittently.

Hope that helps get you up and going. If not, update here with any other info you may think of. Thanks.!

Solid amber light ON Dell Inspiron 530 desktop. The Fans start and stop immediately. The mother board has the power ON Amber light.

The Yellow Light of Death, anyway turn on Your PC, as it starts You will here some beeps especially on a Dells. Count the beeps , there will be a slight pause so it will beep once then pause then beep again. Count the beeps and that will be Your code. Go to Dell Support site and look up code. Most of the time a Yellow amber light means that there is trouble with Your Motherboard but thats not to say its the Motherboard itself, it could have possibly burned out Your RAM, Processor, Heat fan, even the power supply itself. So look up the code and at least You'll have a better chance of finding the solution, Good Luck
