The microwave oven all of a sudden won't heat anything. We don't get any error messages and can turn it on. It looks and sounds as if it is running, but it doesn't heat anything. Is there anything we can do short of buying a new one? It's only been used about 3 years.

The magnetron may have either failed or
is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run
it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!!
before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the diode with either
an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the feed
fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally,
the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.
SOURCE: I have a GE JE1660
there is a 20 amp fuse inside the unit ,but requires to gain access.. may luck out and it just blew the fuse... normally they are behind the control panel unplug unit and take screws out to gain access hopefully that will fix you up ...if the fuse is good i would suspect you have a failed control board on the unit.... good luck

Usually answered in minutes!
The inside light goes on, the timer works the turntable turns, but no heat at all.
...
When you hit Start to cook, do the inside light and turntable come on?
Any unusual noises?
Is it louder or quieter than usual?
These answers will help me judge whether it's in the high voltage
section (magnetron, transformer, or diode) or the control section
(door switch or control board relay or connection).
