Hello! Welcome to FixYa

If you are facing error E32 it means lens becomes stuck in the barrel. There are some solutions you can try to fix but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
First connecting your AC adapter or USB cable.Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera. Look at the lens and if some of the lens circles is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it. Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.
If your camera is still under warranty then best solution is to take it from where you purchased before trying any of these steps.

I hope this solution helps you.

Error msg E32

Its showing an error message. As its new take it back to the vendor and get them to sort it out, replace it or give you a refund. Its still under warranty, you don't want to void the warranty by messing about with it.

Screen white

APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAMERA.
The internal contact to the LCD screen is loose. Grab the camera using both hands with thumb and index fingers on bottom corners. (usually the left bottom corner) Squeeze hard! Voila! You will be doing this occaisonally as it drops out.

Sony DSC S40 screen turnes WHITE in few seconds.

Try pressing hard just under the bottom right hand corner of the screen with your thumb (and second or third finger on the top). Squeeze hard! it works every time for my camera. Good luck.

Hi

Very odd... sounds like the camera is just in a power save mode and should still work.

Try pressing the "Disp" button, does the LCD turn on? Press it again after a second.. does it all now turn off? Press it once more and the LCD should turn on again.

If this doesn't work, then one of two things is most likely wrong. Your CCD is bad, or the aperture in the lens is stuck closed. Either problem requires the lens to be replaced, and no camera shop or store will do it for less than $150-200.

If the aperture is stuck no light is getting in the lens so there is nothing for the camera to record, but you can still see the menus and old pictures just fine. If the CCD is bad, the light is getting in but the camera can't convert it to a digital signal that it can record.. so once again you can still see the menus and old pictures but you can't take any new ones.

I've been building an AFFORDABLE digital camera repair business (Google Darntoothysam) for several years now, I'm just trying to reach people I can help. We offer a lens replacement package for about $70 in our store, you won't find a price like that anywhere else!

If you can use us, please let us know. Even if you don't use our services feel free to ask questions if needed.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com
