Contact a service center for replacement. Seriously, the 60inch panel has to be removed in order to replace the front film which is no easy feat due to its size. Since it is already scratched though, you might try using a polishing kit to see if the scratches can be buffed out. Will never be back to original unless replaced, but might be worthwhile depending on scratch severity. Check with service center or local electronics retailer for the polish kit. Some rental places may be able to buff the display for you as well, but don't expect a guarantee of results. Worth the try though.

YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE OPTICAL BLOCK; I don't think you're going to get much help from Sony at this time. The cost to make the repairs are not cost effective on a unit of this age.

You got here so you have a computer, Google the model number with light engine replacement etc, should be several listed. I would not try the so called chip replacement, lots then come here as set is now messed up etc.

Best left to a professional, you have to remove the front screen and clean mirror, plus it might be the lamp or the optical block that is having an issue. the SXRD series has been know for this.

Sounds like your television needs to have the lamp replaced. The XL5300 lamp is part number F-9308-870-0 and retails for $299. You can find generic lamps for sale on the internet, but they generally don't last as long as the Sony original. Encompass has that part listed in stock and their phone number is (800) 638-3328. Your owners manual should explain how to replace it, but if you want to hire a technician to come to your house and install it, the labor should be minimal and take 5-10 minutes.

DEVOLPING YELLOW LINE ON SCREEN
The yellowing of Sony’s KDF-60WF655 rear projection is a problem with the SXRD optical engine. This turned out to be a big problem on many of the SXRD TV's. Sony actually had a class action lawsuit that covered the optical engine for 5 years. My unit was replaced in June of last year (2009) about 1 month before the coverage ended. My unit had a bad yellow streak on the right hand side. Sony no longer covers the cost of replacement, as the class action suit has now expired. Sorry for the bad news. Its not clear if a new optical engine will suffer the same fate after a few years. Sony’s rear projection TV's are amazing and the picture rivals many of today’s LCD's and Plasma's. Any authorized Sony Tv repair shop will no exactly your problem and will be able to give you a fixed price to repair.

Since you have eliminated the bulb, you must now carefully and meticulously clean the optics and lenses in front of the bulb.

Scratched screen
It can be replaced but not repaired. Go to "Encompassparts.com" , put your model number in and see if it's available. The other supplier would be Fulton television parts, I believe there in PA.

Sony SXRD 60 in. won't power on
You need to replace your DLP lamp...easy fix that you can do yourself.  If, you buy from the Sony website it will cost more.  Try looking online and make sure the lamp is Sony Certified Replacement part and you should find the bulb by itself for $90 - $120 or cheaper or in a rebuilt housing for approx. $160.00
