I was driving along and I got a message "lost satellite reception.

Put it on the dashboard when it is acquiring signal, that helps it faster. If it locks up like that, disconnected the power for 20 seconds and then power it back on.

Hi,

Did you try reseting your nuvi?

Acquiring satellites

The problem might be that your GPS is not able to connect to the satellite.
I'll see what the problem might be.

My home base is Ohio. I am now in Texas and my Garmin Nuvi 265W seems unable to acquire a satellite signal for my current location. How can I get a satellite signal that I can use in Texas?

One problem, which I've experienced, are tinted windows (tinted with metal oxide). They block or distort the microwave signal to/from the satellite. Garmin has an optional external antenna which can be used, or you can try relocating the GPS in your car. Try it with all windows down and the unit near an open window. If that works you've confirmed the tinted glass problem.

My garmin 205 seems to have lost its fix. Its position is out by about 100m, tracking established roads but to one side or other then loses roads altogether then gets totally lost. Is a map update...

Whenever these devices start acting up, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device. There have been numerous fixes to the firmware to allow the Garmin 205 or acquire satellite signal faster, and to be more accurate with your location.

I hope that helps.

Garmin Nuvi takes a long time to Acquire satellite

No. 98% of the time it took 45-56 seonds for your NUVI 660. Thats the compagny set up time acquisition and it did very well.

Be sur you had your flip antenna parallel to earth surface.
660 has THE BEST SIRF Chipset for acquiring satellite.

I had 2 NUVI 660 since 2 years. It work much better than those new 7xx series who it really took 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite.

Be sure you update your version to the last one.
