G'day!

i would like to know how many and the kinds of beeps? there are what they call beep codes which indicates what kind of problem the your laptop is experiencing: here are the common ones:

0 beep = no power, loose card, short
1 short beep = normal,POST (Power On Self Test), your computer is ok
2 short beeps = POST error, review screen for error code.
continuous beeps = no power, loose card, short
repeating short beeps = no power, loose card, short
1 long, 1 short beeps = motherboard issue
1 long, 2 short beeps = video issue
1 long, 3 short beeps = video display circuitry
three long beeps = keyboard/keyboard card error
one beep, blank, incorrect display = video display circuitry

aside from the 1 short beeps, you need to take your laptop to a technician to have it looked at.

Some motherboards have a beep sound at startup.I dont know why.
The beep must be there so that the user can know the pc has booted i think.
The beep sound is no need to worry.

Hi Friend, The 3 beep codes indicates that the issue is with the RAM (memory) of the system, so i would recommend you to please open the laptop and try to locate the RAM on the system and reseat them (unplug and plug them back in) Try to turn on the system and check if the issue is fixed.

My Acer Aspire One netbook worked for a yr and now it locks up soon after turning it on & loading windows and eventually starts a continuous beep. I have reloaded the software back to default settings...
hi, if it was the processor you won't get any beep sound and i don't think the laptop would even load windows as you said it is a ram problem open the laptop and try to change the ram of dimm or get a new ram .

ACER Travelmart 2400 makes loud beep sound
Here is the link to your service manual Make sure that you save yourself a copy to keep as a reference. Look on page 60, that is in the troubleshooting section and goes over the meaning of the beep codes. This will help narrow down the problem or even give you the answer you need.

My acer travelmate wont boot just beeps 4 times i recently reinstalled XP Pro os on acer ferrari 4000 and have recieved this same problem 4 beeps and black screen.won't boot..bios or os. HELP
I long + 3 short beeps or 3 short + 1 long beeps indicates memory problem.
The RAM module/s may need reseating to re-establish proper electrical contact.
If it still doesn't boot up then :-
Get the RAM module/s may be faulty, test the module/s in another laptop or get your friendly computer shop to test them.
