In cold weather an old belt become hard and stiff. When it warms up it is fine. You can either change the belt or you can spray it with Belt Conditioner which helps to soften the rubber and also makes it stickier.
Is this an LSE series Washer/Dryer?
The two units are separate, joined only by a plug and socket at the rear of the washer. There maybe Sellotape on the sides of the washer holding it onto the dryer legs, this was part of the transportation protection, just cut it off.
Disconnect the power, Disconnect the plug and socket.
Pull the washer forward until you can tilt it back to rest on the bottom section of the dryer. The belts are accessible underneath the washer unit.
BUT.. Why do you want to change the belts??
Maytag washers have two belts one for turning the pump and the other for making it spin. Sounds like the belt for the spin needs to be replaced. It is something that you can do. Maytag washer belts are quite easy to change. Hope this helpedd. Thank you for using Fix ya.
Usually this is caused by the water inlet valve sticking in the open position. If you can catch the washer while it's overflowing, unplug the washer. If the water stops, then the problem is most likely a pressure switch or pressure hose. If the water does not stop, it is most likely the water inlet valve.
Remove the front panel (2 screws bottom front) and then put the machine into the spin cycle. Be VERY carefful as the transmission also spins and can really injure you if you get to close. Observe the speed in the spin cycle. Then grab the plastic motor cover and gently pull the motor toward the outside corner. If the spin speed increases then you have a problem with either the 2 springs or 4 rollers inside the floating motor mount. To change the rollers you must remove the pulley and motor mount.
The springs are Item 18. You may have to explain to any parts center what rollers you want.
These washers are notorious for getting an injection bladder leak. The baldder is located atop the washer in the imlet hose assembly; here is the part: Located here on top left hand rear corner: Remove the injector(white pointed plastic looking thingy) from inside the old bladder and shove it up into the new bladder ; reinstall it back where it came from.

Although I'm not familiar with that particular model, most Maytag washers have the belts under the washer (no need to remove the front panel) --- just tip the washer back and check to see if the belts are underneath.
