I bought a Behringer Xenyx 2442FX Board on Craigslist, knowing that it wasn't powering up, but figuring that it was just a bad fuse and the guy didn't know what he was doing. I was wrong. I've verified that the power supply board is the problem - a careful inspection of the back of the PS board showed a small diode(?) C23 that had become dismounted under a heat situation I'm assuming, and the 7085 transistor right above it has a leg that doens't appear to be a good joint anymore with the board. I think it just overheated, or something. I've been unable to locate a service manual to even find the part names that are cooked. I'm leaning towards replacing the entire board, but finding parts has been a challenge. I don't really want to do component-level repair on the board, because these components are miniscule and I'd probably cook them. I was thinking maybe there's a model that uses a comparable power supply board - I keep seeing the same kinds of pinouts on the 6-lead strips leading to the main board... so I'm kind of assuming that they're designed the same way? Is there a model that is smaller, cheaper, or otherwise, that I could buy for a few bucks, rip out the power board, and install? The power supply board says this on it: BEHRINGER MODEL UB-SPSU2 PCB423090REVF and then on another spot: SB (logo) 0609 E228731 94V-0 S168 BF0102

The C23 part is a capacitor and the 7085 is more likely a 7805 which is a voltage regulator. The regulator is easy to find. For the capacitor, you will need the service manual to determine the value required. The main issue is that the leg of hte 7805 is lifted. This implies that the part was conducting more current than expected. This is an indication that the problem with the regulator is a RESULT of a problem, not the defect itself. I would not suggest replacing the power supply blindly as the root cause may beon another board. Just changing the power supply board may result in the same problem again.

I would suggest a trip to the repair shop to get a detailed repair estimate. The shop shouldbe able to determine whether or not the only issue is the power board.

Also, from the experience I have with Behringer units, the power boards are unique to each model.

Would it be possible to recreate the power supply voltages from a generic supply that can provide 5V and 15V? I don't really need 48v for the phantom power for this application. I found this link online, do you think it's reliable?http://www.electronicspoint.com/behringe...

A ything is possible. I'm not sure whether or not your unit uses -12V as well. Using an external power supply is always risky as it may allow for more current draw than the unit can handle.

I would expect that the repair of this unit by an experienced shop would not exceed $100 or so. I don't know what you spent on this thus far, but the $100 investment will yield a unit that should give you many years of reliable service.

I strongly recommend professional repair rather than any external power supply.

SOURCE: I purchased a PV12M monitor and was wanting help

You will have to have an amplifeir between them since the PV12M is an unpowered speaker. The Xenyx 2442FX is likewise an unpowered mixer meaning it cannot directely drive a speaker. You will wire with a balanced line (TRS cable) between the 2442 and the amp and then from the amp to the speaker using a speaker type cable.

Run an active subwoofer with a Xenyx 2442fx

Probably the easiest way is to run a balanced 1/4" TRS to XLR Male Interconnect Cable from one of the AUX outputs from your 2442 board.
Here's a link to an example cable: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BPBQXM20/

Good luck! :)

I have a Behringer zenyx 2442fx mixer. I was using it one day and all the LEDs started glowing brighter and brighter until the whole desk went dead. It has not worked since. I'm guessing the power...

That sounds bad! I haven't heard of a runaway supply for these... Testing of the power supply is in order. The LED's are all driven from the +15 volt supply which is secondary regulated by a three terminal regulator... probably a 7815. I have seen failures of this chip in another Behringer product so it may be a bad batch. The question now is if this has fried the main switching power supply.

My Behringer Xenyx 2442Fx does not get power.I have checked the power cable also.Kindly help me out

The switching power supply has probably failed. See if you can get a number off the power supply board like SPS400 or similar. Unless you are electronically adept this is lkely NOT a DIY repair.

Behringer xenyx 2442fx : I need to know the correct voltages out of power-supply. Mixer has been seen by a previous tech and now FX area and mixer level leds are off (I've been a user of this mixer...

You should find pwer supply voltages of +/- 15 volts going to most of the op-amps.
You should find 48 volts for the phantom power source.
You should find 5 volts for the FX DSP or any other logic circuits.
You should find a +12 volt.

Here is a manual close to your unit (yours is an expansion of it):

Behringer XENYX 2442FX Mixer. The power light does not come on, The +48V does come on. The solo light blinks Constancy. No sound. I checked the fuses, they seem to be OK. any ideas on what wrong

You have likely lost one, probably the +15 volt power supply... This is possibly a shorted component or a short on the circuit board causing this. It takes some skills at troubleshooting to find this. Sometimes using a thermal imaging camera will show hot spot... other times you have to search with a millivoltmeter. The rude solo light is driven by an op amp that uses both polarities of 15 volts and to turn it on it pulls negative... Hence I suspect the +15 is missing.

I have a Tascam US1641 USB interface and wanted to know if you can connect a Behringer 2442fx to it to use it as a mixdown control for my music in Cubase studio5.

The 2442FX has a built in usb interface so there is really no need to use the Tascam. Here is a link for you:http://www.behringer.nl/EN/Products/2442FX.aspx
