Machine leaks My washing machines leaks water. what can be done about it?

Mine leaked water for a long time - They finally came & fixed it saying unfortunately I got one that was put together on a Friday - or a dud! They did some gasket or rubber adjustments & fixed it!

Lift it up about a foot in the front and put something under it to hold it. Then use it and see where the leak is coming from. Maybe the pump or hose that goes to the drum. Have fun!

My Kenmore leaked. Checked all the hoses - all OK. Pulled the Inside Basket out (this is the one that has all the holes in it and spins) to see that the outer Basket had some rust spots in the bottom. One of the rust spots had erupted and when I removed the crust, it was clear that this was the spot where water was leaking. Replacing this basket was cost prohibitive - could have bought a new one for the price. So I drilled the hole a bit larger and then tapered the edges of the hole with a much larger drill bit. With a small grinder I then ground the ceramic around the hole so that I had a round spot smaller than a dime. I then plugged the hole with epoxy. used the already older machine for years afterward and new home owners kept it and used it to wash their pets bedding and the like. It was a beautiful solution - took some time but saved alot of money. This solution should work for any top loading machine.

I am currently in the process of replacing the large gray bellow due to cracks and five years of wear and tear. I first noticed some small leak from the bottom of the washer. I checked all of my fittings with no luck. I finally found the cracked and torn bellow to be my culprit.

Check and clean det dispenser box(remove drawer and wash same also the roof of the disp housing) if the disp is leaking its probably the front holes allowing water to leak forward and run accross top of front panel seal off the front row of holes

Leaking water usually comes from hoses or connections. Be sure that water appearing to be a leak isn't drain water from a backed-up standpipe (see HERE for information on clearing clogged drains). NOTE: To prevent serious flood damage that can occur if washing machine supply hoses burst, be sure to install "no-burst" stainless-steel mesh hoses and lever-type shutoff valves, as shown in the illustration. With these, you can easily turn off the levers for both hot and cold water between wash days. 1) Check the fittings where hoses connect to the faucets and to the back of the washing machine. Also look for worn or leaky hoses. Tighten couplings or hose clamps if necessary, or replace hoses altogether (be sure to turn the water off before removing hoses and drain them into a bucket after disconnecting them). 2) Determine whether machine is over-sudsing during wash loads-- this can cause the entire washing machine to overflow. Reduce suds by pouring a mixture of 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 quart water into the washer. Then switch to less detergent or use a low-sudsing variety. 3) Call a repairperson. The machine may have a faulty basket gasket or tub seal and bearing that must be replaced.
