I have a DP 300U print server connected to a HP Laserjet 6MP printer. I had no difficulty setting up my Dell Latitude D620 laptop to work with it. However, my wife has just purchased a Mac Book Pro laptop and we need instructions for configuring her laptop to interface with the print server.
I connected my HP5MP to the DP-300U LPT1 port.
I configured my port on the DLink Configuration tab, giving it a name "hp5"
...The default login is at http://192.168.0.10/ user:admin pass:(there is no pass by default)
On my Mac, I go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
Click the + to add a new printer
Select the IP option
Choose the Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Type in the Address: 192.168.0.10
Type in the Queue: hp5
Print Using: Generic PostScript Printer or better yet, 'Select a driver to use...'
and find the driver for your HP LaserJet 5MP.
Save it. Works like magic. ;-)
If you change the IP address or password on the DLink, just CYA and write it all down on a sticky note then tape the note under the DLink chassis. There's no reset button on the thing, and if you're o a Mac, you won't necessarily have access to the Windows utility to jack with the DP-300U. So, write it down, kidd-o!
From the Apple menu chose printers and fax and then use APPLE TALK protocol
