Sync Outlook Contacts & iPhone

I can sync all contacts but I don't want to do that' I only want to sync selected groups.

The problem is that when I check "sync contacts with outlook" in iTunes, it automatically highlights the button for "all contacts" and won't allow (fades out) the choice for "selected groups".

It also fades out the option of "put new contacts created on the is iphone into the group _________"

I don't want all 11,000 contacts in my phone, only certain ones. It won't even let me choose by folder, never mind categories.

Finaly realized that contact folders and groups are not the same but haven-t solved the problem anyhow.

To create a new group right-click on the existing group bart and select "new group"

You need to creat "Folders" in outlook and move all contacts to the different folders. These "Folders" are then recognized as "Groups" in iTune and you can sync Contacts by Groups.

iTune does not recognize Outlook's "Categories", or even Outlook's "Groups"; iTune only recognizes "Folders" as groups.

Problem solved.

When you create a new Contacts Folder you have to make sure that you create as a subfolder of the main contacts folder (in the create window you are shown the file tree).

I had the folders moved in different groups as well but I am not sure that it made a difference.

Please note that you have to leave outlook and itunes on for a few minutes before they synch and iTunes see the new folders.

Sync iphone to outlook contacts

Speaking of syncing iPhone with Outlook, you can take advantage of iTunes to sync contacts. sync-iphone-outlook-contacts-oxaxc0rwhkhzilrwacqreyis-3-0.jpg
  1. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable, and launch iTunes.
  2. Click iPhone icon, and choose Info the Summary Panel in left sidebar.
  3. Check Sync Contacts with, and choose in the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Apply at the right bottom to start syncing iPhone contacts with Outlook.
When the sync is finished, the contacts will show up in the Outlook contacts. Besides syncing contacts, you can also sync iPhone calendars and mails to outlook as well. But if you have noticed, the sync of iTunes is an annoying issue among iPhone users as during the sync of iTunes, the application may erase the available files in their iPhone.

How to transfer Contacts in iPhone to Outlook

Once your iPhone is connected to your PC and iTunes is loaded you can right click on your iPhone and select exactly what you want to have sync'd.
1. Under the Info tab you will find Contacts. 2. Tick the "Sync contacts with :" and select Outlook from the list. 3. Click "All contacts"
If you wish to put all of your iPhone created contacts into a different group in Outlook you can select the group there also and tick the relevant box.
iTunes always displays a warning about over writing data but that is not relevant to Contacts. Data is always merged.
I hope this solves your problem.

This way, all the contacts from your iPhone will be saved into another folder in your main contacts folder of your Outlook PST.
