I just to the screws out from the bottom of the globe and took the little panel off near the battery panel. The pen is wired in with a rca jack and if we cant find replacement pens for it...it would be easy to replace. Any suggestions

If the pen suddenly stops working without any physical damage, LeapFrog will replace the pen free of charge. However, we recommend that you try cleaning the pen first. Unplug the stylus pen and wipe both the plug and the jack with a dry cotton swab.

If the pen was physically damaged (your dog chewed it, your child ripped the cord, etc.) the replacement cost is $5 to cover shipping and handling. I just solved this by replacing some capacitors in the unit. I found in the globe section there were only 2 capacitors (220uf 10v 85deg). Capacitors have a limited life, and while I know almost nothing about electronics I learned this trick fixing other appliances. Anyway, I replaced the two in the globe and no luck, then since I had a spare I looked in the base section and found one more capacitor matching those I'd bought so I replaced that one and it's working perfectly now, total cost of $2.86. I suspect I only needed to replace the one in the base unit but I'll never know.

Stylus stopped working within one week of purchase.
We replaced the first because the ame thing happened shortly after buying. now it has happened to the 2nd one as well.... starting to think this is a typical problem with this product!!!!
