The printer has not been used excessively and shouldn't have failing parts this soon. It is idiosyncratic and sometimes will print. Where is the sensor? In the back/bottom of the paper feed?

One tech said it might be the sensor? He has not returned to respond.

There is nothing in the printer as I said above in my original post. I don't wish to be charged for this advice at all. Morgan

Hello,
The sensor may be dirty even if it looks like there is no paper jam. Take a bottle of compressed air and give it a once over. Make sure you don't shake or tip the compressed air as you don't want to fast freeze anything.
If this does nothing, you probably have a failed sensor which will need replacing.

(5) Close the Document Feeder Cover, then turn on the machine.
When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.
If you cannot remove the document or the document tears inside the machine, or if the document jam error continues after removing the document, contact the service center.
Note: The document may not feed properly depending on the media type, or your environment, such as when the temperature and humidity are either too high or too low.
In this case, reduce the number of document pages to approximately half of the loading capacity.
If the document still jams, usPIXMA MX330 Error message "Document in - ezrahite_9.giflass instead.

The ADF is the "automatic Document Feeder" it thinks something is in there when there isn't. check to see if something is stuck in it that would cause it to "think" that.

I want to scan with canon mx330 without ink in the printer

I have a canon mx330 fax print and scan all in one printer
To scan without ink just hold the back button in after the ink message comes up it should eventually take you to the main menu then you can hit the scan button.

Document in ADF

None of these worked for me. Here is my FIX:
Open the part containing the rollers. You can see a white plastic part which stop the documents feeded into the adf. Lower this part and insert a page into the adf just a bit further than where it would have stopped from that white stopper. This forces the machine to feed the document and clears the error right away. You only have to do this once and from then mine worked fine.

I'm having the very same problem. No paper was ever stuck and the first time I tried to scan a document by laying it on the glass, not even through the feeder and it did this, and just like with you now it won't even print. Apparently this happens a Lot. I sure wish I would have seen these issues before I bought it! I wish I could help you out, but at least you know you're not alone.

Canon MX330 - trying to use ADF. No doc inside on

Canon Pixma MX330, ADF error, Code : 2,103,0
Here's what I found. There were no stuck gears or pieces of plastic caught anywhere.
The ****** can still feed paper, except for (consistently) the last page -->error/stuck.
1) In order to CLEAR THE ERROR you need to do two things
a) & b):
a) Press OK, WITH THE HOOD OPEN, with a piece of paper loaded in the ADF, being careful to grab the paper manually as it comes out of the bottom of the hood.
b) Windex the strip of glass surface which sits under the ADF next to the platen. This needs to be done with attention to minute detail, and a bright LED flashlight; since ink smudges off of documents and collects on the glass with alarming frequency. The machine may think these smudges are caught/jammed paper.
2) In order to SCAN a stack of paper, add one blank sheet to the bottom of your document. This page will be the one that
fails to clear the ADF, generates an error, and must be manually cleared before the next job.
The rest of your pages will have already scanned.

Repeat Every Time You Use it

Document in ADF Redo operation after checking document in ADF and

UPDATE..............

I Solved the problem....

The problem is in the gear box on the document feeder......The (Poor Quality) tension spring against the gear harness becomes stressed to the point where it bends out of it's 90 degree angle from (FYI - below average) use . It fails to function properly causing mis-alignment of the gears during document loading.

In order to fix this you need to remove the drive motor, gear housing and some gears. Bend the tension spring back to the correct 90 degree angle. and reassemble it again. Not for the impatient person.
