RX-V995 Won't Start - Found Possible Fix But Need Parts

I have the same problem as others - a 9 year old RX-V995 receiver that would not stay on, and now will not turn on at all. The problem started about a year ago, and my fix then was to leave the unit powered up all the time. If I turned the unit on and off, there were times where it would not turn on. Over the weekend the unit shut off and I could not power it back on. I could hear the main relay drop out in a second. I found that if I pushed on the relay a certain way the unit would power up. That suggested a bad solder joint on the relay. I re-worked the 4 solder joints, but no fix - the unit would not start unless I pressed on the relay again. I now suspect a bad relay (DEC DG1U-12V) - do you agree? If not what else could it be? Where can I get a new relay - and where can I get the Yamaha part number? I have the same problem. How do I know where the relay is and what it looks like?
Thanks

Tim

Many different Yamaha amplifiers have a faulty capacitor on the Standby power PCB. I would replace the capacitor on that board first. My RX-V2500 had the same symptoms and I changed the 22nF 630V (orange) capacitor and now it's fixed.

HI,

Start by checking the fuse, take the cover off the reciever and look for a small glass fuse attached to the board. If it's blown replace it.

If they ask you for the part no. you can tell them:

    RELAY DC DG12D1-0/M11 RXV2095 (V6881300).

But it is better to just give them the model no. of your reciever and tell them you need a replacement relay for your model.

The part no. which i gave you is actually for RXV2095.But your mode no. is RXV995

So please just tell them to give a replacement relay for your model no.

I have a Yamaha RX-V995 AV receiver. Lately, turning it on is a chore. Sometimes it may take 15-20 attempts before it stays on. The same thing happens with the remote control. Why does this happen?

if you havent already, get in contact with www.yamaha.com service centre -- see if they have a recall for this product .. it should have come with 2 year parts/labour warranty

Yamaha RX-V995: Is there anyway to only listen to

Assuming you have the same Model Variant ( I'm not sure if Yamaha varies model from Country to Country) I just switch mine to effect off ( 2 Channel) to remove the surround component so that only A or B speaker pairs work. That should fix it unless I am mistaken.

RX-V995 Earthing issue

your main lead wire contains only two core, could be brown, black, anyway..open the cover of the unit, and change the cord, get three core main wire, and take the old one off, replace the other one, which should have earth, you can screw it to the transfomer base, try this

Yamaha RX-V995 receiver turns on & then powers off 2 seconds late

I suggest you run self diag.  press [FM/AM] key + [Input mode] key and press the [power/standby] switch.

ps prt = power supply problem
dc prt = shorted output or leakly cap in channel
tmp prt means to hot on heatsink

you'll likely have to measure the resistances of the output FETs to find a short,

Yamaha RX-V995: Remove On Screen Text

Here is a dumb try :). Connect your video source directly to the TV/projector, bypassing the receiver from inserting any messages.

If you are probably going to HD sometime, you would need to do that eventually as 995 doesn't have HDMI/Digital Video switching.

Sorry no - I think you might have to buy a copy somewhere like Vance Baldwin or the other authorized Yamaha replacement part vendor.
