Where can I find drivers for Samsung's 910t monitor? A generic is controlling it now & it's not coming close to the quality it had. (The computer crashed & I installed a new hard drive but the...

The problem is not the LCD monitor; the problem is that the current device-driver for your computer's video-card is a "generic" ("low-resolution") device-driver.

Open "Device Manager".
Expand the "Display Adapter" section.
Double-click the video-card.
Click "update driver" and let Windows access the Internet, to search for a better driver.

CCFL LIGHTS

Are you sure that both lamp assemblies are bad?
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Bad%20backlight%20lamp/

If tehy do not light up, it can be the problem in the inverter board, either because it has bad transistors, bad inverter transformers windings, blown fuse/fuses, bad caps in the power supply, etc.

It will tell you how to estimate the lamp length. Are you sure that the lamps are bad, not the inverter circuits?

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Hooked Samsung SyncMaster 931BF monitor to laptop and the letters on the screen are choppy. I can play with the settings on the monitor but can't get the letters to line up straight.

This looks like a driver/resolution problem. Which laptop are you using? New laptops shouldn't give you any hassles, but older models don't always have the graphics cards to support all monitor sizes.

Make sure your monitor driver is installed on the laptop and that you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your laptop.

You can download the screen driver here: http://driverzone.com/device.php?id=55741

Then check that the resolution for your monitor is set correctly on your laptop under display properties. The native resolution for the screen is 1280x1024.

Hope this helps,
