7700 series Moen leaks at top and bottom of base hub

There could be several reasons why your Moen 3838 Castlebar Four Function Showerhead is suddenly gushing water from the base when in shower mode. Some possible causes include:

If you call the Moen 800 number, All moen faucets have a life time warrantee and they will replace at no charge.

You need to replace the spout o-ring seals. A Moen #117 spout oring kit. If you have a faucet with a sprayer, you will use all three rings. If uit has no spray, you will use only two.

Dismantel the entire faucet and clean. Probably grime or dirth buildup if it has a rotating shutoff

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE IT, FIND THE HANDLE SMALL PLASTIC COVER AND LOOSEN THE ALLEN SET NUT

turn the wrench counter clock wise. lefty loosy, righty tighty

The cylinder which surrounds the bottom of the spout is part of the spout. The cylinder is sealed with o-rings at top and bottom. They probably need replaced. Feel free to use lubricant.

you may need to get the moen cartridge puller,either moen brand, or brass craft, they can be tough to pull some time's

Yes, a cartridge will probably solve it. There are two different Moen cartridges so be sure to take the old one with you so you get the correct one.
