My Samsung HLP-5063 DLP starting making a loud buzzing noise recently. ... I've only used it to watch TV for a half hour or so at a time, as I have a new LED LCD in my room. ... that's from a thermal switch, to keep the innards cool, post use. Seems to me that you might just check to see that all vents are open and clear of debris, for starters.

Some of these (many) had issues with a color wheel---high pitched or fan light sound that declines when set turned off----Got this?

Hi,If your tv is a dlp you might be experimenting a color wheel problem.The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms.The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises.Here's the instructions to replace it http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp96-01579a.php and your part # is BP96-01103A Have a bless one!

check the lamp, that'd be the first thing to check.

If it is just no color but you still have a picture it should be your digital board. This is the board that mounts behind the light engine and should be encased in a shilver colored metal sheild
