Unable to get TV sound and dvd sound through the surround sound speakers with samsung compatible tv and blu ray player

I have an HDMI cable between the dvd and the tv, so that should connect all the audio and video in one? and we have checked all the settings so that it should work, but again, the tv won't play through any of the speakers connected to the dvd, and the dvd will only play through the front two speakers and the subwoofer, but not the surround sound speakers or the central speaker

  • Anonymous Aug 17, 2011

Hi, as I have and HDMI cable attached from the TV to the DVD player, and Anynet is working, so that the remotes are compatible. But still, when the TV is on, the audio is not coming through the speakers that are connected to the DVD player, and when the DVD is playing a DVD, the sound is only coming through the two front speakers and the subwoofer, and not the center speaker or the two surround sound speakers. Now I have also done a speaker check, and they are all working, so I don't know what the problem is

  • Anonymous Aug 17, 2011

There is no switch on the speakers, all the speakers are working when they were tested, and all the connections are working properly...but for some reason, they won't work together. Any other ideas?

  • Anonymous Aug 17, 2011

They are both samsung. The DVD is HT-D5300.
The TV is series 4+, 43cm, looking for the serial
    Number now

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2011

No, I'm not using a wireless receiver for the surround speakers. I have bought an optical cable now to allow the TV to play through the surround speakers, as advised to me by somebody who has a samsung TV. However, I have not yet found a solution as to why only two of the five speakers are transmitting audio when they are all calibrated and work individually...

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2011

The model number for the blu ray home entertainment system is HT-D5300, and the TV is a compatible samsung 4+ series, 43 inch screen

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2011

Hi, I told you I already did that. I ended up calling a samsung tech and he told me what to do.
It was a button on the remote control that needed to be pressed to switch between
Different modes that use different speakers...

Hi,Even though you have not mentioned about the cabling connections you have done, for the sake of correct connection I describe all the possible cabling alternatives to you..You can select whichever you want..

TO WATCH DVD ON THE TV:
** Receiver's "AUDIO and VIDEO OUTPUT as " 2xRCA Audio+1x Video " or "Optic Cable OUTPUT or " HDMI Output " of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary cables on your hand )
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio+ Video input s " as can either be : 3xRCA jacks or "Optic cable input " or HDMI IN connector of your TV ,
** than just switch to DVD mode on Receiver and play DVD
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

TO LISTEN YOUR TV ON SURROUND SYS.
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : 2xRCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or HDMI connector of your TV ,
** to Receiver's "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
or HDMI of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary
cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective SOURCE mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

Pls remember.."IN " goes to "OUT" or vice versa..all the times..

There you go..Both Tv and DVD sound are on the
Receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV will come thru your Receiver's SURROUNDING SOUND speakers as well .

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care

You did not mention if the sourrround was an external speaker connected through a DTH amplifier or if this was on the TV. Now to activate the surround the menu must be opened and the audio settings page opened. Now check if the surround settings was activated. Also check the surround speakers .
Please mention the details of the TV, make /model.
Also only if a DTH mode is selected with a DVD with DTH will the surroung work perfectly. So check this out.

If the connection is in proper places try to check if there is a switch in the surround sound speaker that may be deactivated.

Are you using a wireless receiver for the surround speaker?

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2011

Sir sorry for the late reply. Sir try to use the test tone features in the sound setting to be sure that all the speaker are connected properly.

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2011

Sir Im sorry but I think that the problem of the unit is only in the setting and the connection of the unit or the sound compatibility Sir try to review the user manual of your unit. I'm really sorry I can't help.

hi,
Is there is any optical digital output in your satelite HD. Then connect that optical digital output of satelite HD to the optical digital input of your surround system (blue ray player) using an optical cable.
Then press the function button on the remote of surround sound system (blue ray player) and select D.IN. (D.IN means DIGITAL IN). You will get the audio through the surround sound system. if you need any more assistance fell free to contact me through fixya.

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

I have bouight a samsung home theatre system that comes complete wiht a DVd player - i also have a samsung blu ray player - naturally ithought they would be compatible!! how wrong i was!! the connections...

You have several ways to do this. You can hdmi cables from the two units and plug them into your tv if it supports hdmi and run the audio out portion on the back of the tv and hook that into one of the audion inputs on the surround unit. Or you run audio directly out of the bluray using rca, digital coax, or digital optical cable. Turn the surround reciever to the corresponding input that you choose to use.

You did not say if you have connected the video out on the surround system to the video in on the tv. If not connect it and select that input on the tv.
