I picked up a technics SL-1100A turntable it is missing the power supply transformer. i require a schematic, or, can you tell me the ac voltage required to operate the unit. my guess is somewhere between 18-24 volts AC.

The power supply of the turntable needs checking. It could be just a fuse or something more serious, such as a faulty transformer.

I assume you're talking about a power transformer......If it the same, and I doubt it is, it would be to remove and replace like colored wires, and solder them on. If it's not exactly the same transformer, as they are long discontinued, you would need someone like me to to spec out both transformers and decide, first of all, is it a good sub, and two, how to wire different colored transformer secondary colored leads. There must be a shorted power transistor in the power supply area. Check the voltage output of the transistor to determine which part is having a short circuit.

Check with radioshack, they have many different options, they even have a universal adapter that can fit almost anything and and voltage needed.

Something inside your deck is faulty and drawing excessive current. It could be either the transformer or anything to do with the power supply or the motor.

The schematics do not show the actual voltage.

From the design, the phantom power secpndary should be around 35 to 45 volts AC.

The 16 volt supplies would require a secondary winding that will be around 26 to 32 volts center tapped.

Transformers are quite reliable and unless a voltage is missing, the transformer is likely OK.

The most suspect items are the electrolytic filter caps if the voltage is not the design 16 plus and minus values.

If you are lucky then just the fuse may have failed - usually F1 / 250mA / 20mm type.

Try these test, the only common possibilty would be the transformer and the power supply if both channels are out.You better to check both the positive and negative voltages from the power supply to see if both are present or if one or both are missing.This would be dc voltages of approx.20 to 40 volts.The positive voltage must be equal to the negative voltage,with the exception of their polarity.If one higher than the other, the regulator in power supply is busted already.The transformer can be checked for AC voltage before the power supply.This reciever uses a single power supply so the problem would be,common to both channels.You better change the regulator and checked some capacitor near the regulator.

With a voltage meter, open the table back up to where the fuse is under the on off switch. With the table plugged check the voltage meter check the incoming ac prongs for 20V. Also, the 1210 has a voltage switch under the platter to the left
 a little hole for which a flat head screwdriver is needed to switch the voltage. If you live in the UK or outside od the USA it should be on 220V, IF YOU LIVE IN THE USA, IT SHOULD BE ON 110V. If your electricity is 110/120 and its on 220, the transformer is most likely fried. If your electricity is 220V and its set to 110V , then its not getting enough current. Its possible the transformer could have gone bad, with no smell of burn or sign of damage. Also, check board with all the capacitors on it around the motor, check fopr any leakage...
