KitchenAid Superba convection microwave (Model No. KBMC140HSS0) was beeping erratically during the night. This morning, went to operate it and all I got were more random beeps no matter which button I pushed. Pushing any one button did not control anything, e.g., could not set the device to actually microwave anything. Turned off the circuit breaker for a few seconds, then powered back up. The problem continued. Noticed that the control panel was warm near the buttons. Turned if off for the day, and it returned to normal by the time I turned the breaker back on upon arriving home this evening. Problem solved, but only for awhile. A moment ago, we heard another random beep. Seems that with time, the problem might return. Will this require a replacement of a module, board, etc.?

Based on other posts on this topic, I went ahead and ordered the membrane panel.

We have the same problem. What was the cost of a new control panel and where did you purchase it?

SOURCE: can't use the microwave

To lock or unlock the keypad, press and hold the CLEAR pad for 5 seconds. If this recurs, you may have a power line problem or trouble with your controller. If you suspect trouble and it's under warranty, don't hesitate to contatc GE via ge.com. If you don't have your mower's manual, you can download one at: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

F3 occurs if the controller detects a key shorted for more than 60 seconds. Luckily, on this model, the "keypanel" as it's called is available as a separate part. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering the model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 The "keypanel" is shown as reference number 44 on that exploded view.

SOURCE: Micrwave does not heat, and turns off by itself before time

Unplug the Microwave and remove the outer cabinet. Inside the cabinet will be a thermal insulated fuse, looks like the old buss fuses for early model cars but white. Replace that with the correct fuse which can be found at Lowes or Home depot and see if that solves the problem. Be careful not to touch any capacitors if they are in there.

If the fuse or breaker blew again, you probably have a shorted high voltage capacitor. If not, then you may have a shorted high voltage rectifier diode.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

SOURCE: KitchenAid Superba Microwave/Oven, Microway Door message

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount (which are pretty simple problems to fix) or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

If you only need a switch, you can order one from us for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

36" KitchenAid microwave has been beeping for no reason. It's like someone is going to use it and it changes the display. Happened in the middle of the night. I cleared it, but it keeps happening

Erratic behavior sometimes occurs when microwaves are not plugged into grounded outlets. Make sure it is actually grounded. If so, you might have a defective control panel.

New unit used 3 days. Microwave beeps and screen goes to menu, or set time screen. Sometimes changes the date all by itself. Does this in the middle of the night all night long.

I advice you to contact service if it has guarantee. This seems to be a psychological problem about your oven(!). Technical person need to do an electronic research surgery on its board to see if there is any wrong thing.

Our microwave, Kitchenaid KBMC140HSSO keeps on beeping. When we unplug it, it stays for a while ok and than all of a sudden it starts beeping again. what do we have to do?

That model would be KBMC140HSS0 *(zero not "oh") and there should be one last number on the end. Check the tag in or on the unit for the full model number.

Your membrane assembly is shorting, and it will be one of these part numbers, depending on model / color:

4453028 Black
4453029 White
4452882 Biscuit
4453025 Stainless

Have a kitchenaid superba part no. 4450786A with the probe indicator beeping for a temperature to be set. Prior to beeping started just used microwave to warm food; didn't need or use probe. What is...

Put the probe in the oven and beeping stopped. Left it in overnight and next morning took the probe out and there was no beeping. Have not heard beeping all day. Don't know why this worked but it did.
