Hitachi 50V710 Greenish Tint

I have an Hitachi 50V710 LCD (2.5 years old) that now has a constant greenish/yellowish tint to the picture. I tried adjusting the color but, it doesn't help. My research on the intrernet finds that others with the same TV are experiencing the same problem & some have had Hitachi replace the light engine with no charge for the part. When I contacted Hitachi customer relations, they told that there not aware of any issue with the light engine failures with my model TV.
Any recomendations or opinion?

Make sure that there is no Magnetic feild around the LCD

  • Anonymous Sep 06, 2008

By Magnetic field i mean there should not be any gadget near the LCD which contains a heavy Magnet. It may continuously create a magnetic
field which will surely create this kind of issue

Rear projection HD Hitachi Ultravision always has greenish tint

This is what you're going to do, Turn on the Tv and go to the service manual, if the green tint is still there, you have a defective dmd board, but if it's no there, then you have an issue with your video board

cleaning the CRT lenses and mirror will help, however with that model I would suspect that the gree and blue CRT needs the coolanr changed to get a your color and clarity back. thats a common problem with all phillips rear projection TVs

Mitsubishi CS-40707 Greenish/Yellowish Display

Yeah, I had mine checked for the same thing. The "blue" - There's only three - red yellow blue- portion of your tube died. Not repairable. Last I checked it costs at least $1,000 for a new 40 inch tube. Good luck. Mine went to the garbage dump!

Greenish yellowish tint on the tv

I have been advised that the color/light engine of the TV fails often and will typically create a green tint on this unit. I have one on order to get a replacement installed. BTW, it is not "user serviceable" and (for me) will require moving the TV to the repair shop for the change-out.
