The battery of my Casio 1846 W-71 was dead, so I tried to replace the battery by myself.

First, you need to get a hand on a CR2016 3-volts battery. It could cost you 5$ or 10$, but I got 5 of them for 1.50$ at an electronics discount store...

Get a precision screwdriver, remove the 4 screws. Be careful when you remove the cover, there's a tiny spring. Remember where it is, then remove it. Remove the watch from the shell.

Using a flat mini screwdriver, remove the cover that holds the battery. You'll need to unclip all 4 corners. There are centers to unclip too, not sure if there was 2 or 4 of them.

Remove the battery, place the new one. Clip the battery cover back, and put the watch back in the shell.

I closed the cover. The watch was showing time, buttons were working, but no sound at all. Looked on the Internet, and read that you need to short circuit it.

Look carefully, there is a label "AC" near a small hole. (Inside the hole you'll see the gray spike of a welding). Just touch something metal inside the hole (e.g. the welding spike) and then touch the positive (top) side of the battery. Put the cover back in place, press a button and listen for the beep.

Screw the cover back in place.

I suppose you don't know how to open the backside of your watch, to replace the battery.
If that is so, check the back side of your watch. At the edge of the centre cover, or just under it, there is at 1 place a little notch of a view millimeters. Juse a small screw driver or tweezers for instance to lift it up. If you don't succeed, the cover might be tight and sticky. So you need to put the back side of your watch on a hot and wet cloth. That might help to loosen the sticky edges.

Pretty sure you just pop off the back, take out the old battery and put in a new one. Stores that sold watch batteries use to do it for you, some don't now. Liability reasons they say.

To open up the back of the watch, open the strap so that you have good access to the back. If you have a steel band, you might need to slip out one of the adjustment pins to separate the band into halves. Yes, you might be able to take the back off without this step, but it makes it a lot easier.
Place the watch face down onto a soft surface. I like to use a dark towel, so that if I drop one one of the tiny screws you'll be dealing with in a minute, they won't bounce and you can easily find them again.
Use your screwdriver to loose the back of the watch, one screw at a time. I find it very helpful to loosen a screw, then use the tweezers to pick it up out of the hole. These guys are tough to grab with your fingers! Put the screw in a safe place, then carefully remove the back of the watch. A little black neoprene gasket may be stuck to the back or be floating around--don't lose that!
You should be able to see where the battery is kept. On most Timex watches, there's a metal shield covering the watch and completing the power circuit. Using your screwdriver, gently pry the tabs of this shield away from the watch movement, one tab at a time. Try very hard not to snap off any of the little plastic anchors. On a Casio watch I recently serviced, I had to remove the movement from the watch to get at these little tabs; I don't remember ever having to do that with a Timex.

Closing up the watch is the reverse of what you did to get it open. Make sure the neoprene gasket is back in place--that's what's keeping sweat and water out of the watch--and carefully set the cover back in place. Tighten the screws in an "X" pattern--i.e., top left, then bottom right, then bottom left, then top right. I get all the screws loosely screwed in before tightening them down in earnest. This watch has a plastic case, so you want to tighten the screws snugly, but not over-tighten them so that they strip out the screw hole.

mcdevito75 here, Best Bet is to look for a small watch repair shop in your area, they can authenticate your Gucci watch for you. If you can, remove the back cover of your Gucci and record any and all numbers and other info off the watches movement itself then check online at Gucci.com. If your not familiar with watches, specially Gucci an expensive watch let a small watch repair shop remove the back cover and give you all info needed to authenticate the watch.

remove back cover plate- inside you will need a jewlers screw driver- install new batery in reverse. install screw- and snap cover back in place.Make sure battery is new.
