SOURCE: can't get it to talk to my LAN in ad hoc mode
Is the AP connected to the router using a ethernet cable? Are you having similar issues when you connect wirelessly to the wireless router?
SOURCE: Laptop can't find access point!
Some laptops come with a button\switch or use key combination to turn on or off the wireless(to conserve power)! Refer to your user manual for exact instructions! If that didn't solve the situation then it could be your actual wireless card within the laptop is giving trouble! regards, babb

Usually there is a paper clip sized hole in the back of the WAP that you insert a pin or paper clip into for 10 seconds.

Is dlink the name of your network? I think your confusing it with the manufacturer.
Try This:
On the bottom of the router there is a number or ip address it should look something similar to this 192.168.0.1. Now, if you have access to the internet, if not, go use a friend's computer or the library and type that number EXACTLY as it appears in an internet browser (internet explorer, firefox, safari) where you would normally type a web address. You will be prompted with a password, enter the password. Now go through the setup and change the SSID when prompted to. Now enter that SSID which you just made when searching for networks on your wireless device.
This might solve your problem. If you have questions, contact me on my profile. Good luck!
