I have a Samsung HLP4663wx xaa that I just replaced the color wheel to fix the buzzing noise and then had to replace the lamp after 16541 hours so definately got my moneys worth. Had to remove the jumper...

I would assume you need to replace that ballast. Usually the bulbs out live the bulb's ballast (from previous experience)...I've seen DLPS do this type of thing when the bulbs are slow to turn on due to a new ballast being needed.

Thanks and hope it helps!

Loud noise when starting sometimes will shut off takes 3 or more times for it to keep running just changed the bulb guess this wasnt the problem is it possible that this is a problem with the fan?

If it's not a bulb that needs replacing its most commonly a problem with the ballast, which provides a steady electrical current to setup and operate the lamp.

The left side of the screen, about 3 to 4 inches in top to bottom has darkened. You can still see some picture there, but it's quite dark. I replaced the bulb, but it didn't help. What else can I do?

It sounds like the light tunnel is falling apart. This is a repair best left to the experts, you can call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest authorized service center.

The lamp went out on our 4 year old 42" samsung, model #HL-R4266W where do I get a new bulb and how do I change it

Check the following before replacing the lamp:
  1. The replacement lamp must be of the same code number and type with the old one.(Samsung BP96-01472A Lamp)
  2. The lamp type is indicated on the right side of the TV. It is also indicated on the lamp case.
  3. You can search online where to buy replacement lamp.
Caution:
  1. Replace the lamp with the correct lamp type to avoid damage to the TV.
  2. Turn off the TV and wait for 30 minutes before replacing the lamp to allow it to cool
  3. Do not touch the glass part of the lamp with your bare hands nor insert any foreign object inside the cover as it may cause poor screen quality, electric shock or fire.
  4. Do not place the old lamp near flammable objects or within the reach of children.

Tools needed:
  1. Phillips screwdriver and a pair of gloves.
Procedure:
  1. Remove the 4 screws securing the lamp cover. 49f2bb5.jpg

Samsung hlr4266wx dlp tv shuts off

This tv usually if detects a fault will display via leds a error flash code. Refer to Owners manual for What the codes are for. If you go to Samsung Website Copy and paste link for manual.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/search/supportSearchResultView.do?group=televisions&group_cd=&type=televisions&type_cd=02010000&subtype=dlptv&subtype_cd=02010300&model_nm=HLR4266W&dType=D&vType=R&mType=&model_cd=&menu=download&prd_ia_cd=02010300&acc_ia_fl=N&disp_nm=HL-R4266W

Problem may be lamp is failing or ballast which operates lamp may be Bad. Could also be Temperature fault from Inoperable fan or Color wheel. Bulb of course is first choice of possible problem followed by color wheel then ballast. Color wheels usually will start making bearing noise when they start to fail. Hope this helps.
