My Maytag Performa Washe PAV2300AWW makes a very loud noise when in spin cycle...and the inside tub seems to not be balanced when spinning begins.I reposition the clothes because they may be too heavy on one side of tub but it seems to happen alot. Is it something I can repair or maybe it would cost too much and I should just buy a new one. Thanks for any help.

For the noise I'd be looking at water pump. For the unbalanced issue, probably snubber ring. Pump easy to replace. Snubber ring not so easy.

SOURCE: Does not spin

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.

SOURCE: My Maytag PAV2300AWW Performa is noisy on spin cycle

If you are talking about a loud sqeaking noise, this is usually attributed to a worn snubber ring and/or brake assembly. You cannot lubricate the snubber to get rid of the noise. In fact, you may damage the washer if you do. A small amount of corn starch can be sprinkled under the bottom tub support where the snubber ring is to get rid of most noise related problems (this will be the bottom round plate where it meets the casing of the machine). However, if the snubber is worn too much, or if the brake assembly is worn they must be replaced. I would recommend replacing the following parts:

Brake Stator: 1057484 Price: $7.45
Brake Rotor and Lining: 1032674 Price: $16.70
Snubber: 1055142 Price: $4.35
Brake Removal Kit: 997909 Price: $99.40*

*Brake removal tool is required in order to remove the brake assembly and/or to replace the snubber. There is a 200lbs spring located under the Brake Stator that must be compressed PRIOR to removal or you could cause injury to yourself.

You can find all your parts and information at repairclinic.com. I am not affiliated with the website. I am merely recommending them because I have used their service before. Plus, they use the same repair parts as your major appliance repair companies, but at a lower cost.

The parts required to make the repairs aren't very expensive, but the tool required to do it IS. Also, if you've never worked on this type of washer before, this is not a job that I would recommended to the average do-it-yourselfer. Maytag is real good abpout providing the necessary instructions with their parts, but this is a bit involved.

Post back with comments and let me know if this helps you.

Your door lid has a switch that makes these functions work.First open the lid and look at the right side of it.Does it have a arm on it?If it does follow the direction where it is going to hit and now listn closely while your lifting the door up & down at this contact  can you hear it click? If its not clicking  or the arm is broken  off the lid replace  the lid switch/or the broken lid switch arm.

SOURCE: maytag performa PAV2300AWW will not spin but sounds like it is.

I think you have guessed it right. There is probably something stuck between the tubs. I have seen this caused by a lot of things. You should look for things as small as coins, shirt buttons, cufflinks etc., Also I advice you not to turn on the machine until the blockage is removed.

Good Luck,
Sai.

Maytag performa washer during spin cycle tub is making loud banging noise and continues even when clothes are evenly distributed

This sounds like the transmission is going. Better get another washing machine other than a Performa.

Grinding sound during agitation cycle on my Maytag Performa

Its probably you stator plate and rotor. But you need special tools for this repair. There a spring that is under 200 pounds of pressure and if you take the screws off that hold the plate its going to fly into you face if your dont use the special tools to depress the spring. Is it more of a clanking kinda of noise? DOes it olnly happen with heavy loads? Try this out. Fill the washer with water only. and get it into a wash cycle with water only. If there is no noise then put in like a load of towels. A heavy load. Now if you hear the noise now then its for sure you stator plate and rotor..hope this helps, but like i said you need those special tools to do this repair or injury can result from the spring part.

Maytag performa washer grinding noise

Sounds like the water pump is going out on it. The part runs about $80 and should only take about 45 minutes to install.

Maytag Performa PAV2300AWW screaching noise, belt problem, pulley broke

My Maytag Performa was making the loud squealing noise. I changed out the water pump/bearing, took care of the problem.
Putting a new belt on just help burn up the bearing (they needed replacing) and probably ruined the new belt. Probably seized the water pump bearing and the belt jumped and broke the motor pully. A washing machine motor is very strong, when that h20 pump bearing seized (or possibly some bearings jamed up) the motor kept on turning that belt and the plastic pully gave in. You'll need to replace that also. If the h20 pumb bearing is turning freely, likely the bearings jammed up but or now loose. That bearing should be tight, no slack or play in it. You can probably wobble the pully on it all around while turning it. The slightest slack is too much.
