Yeah of course. But you need to get rid of vista before you do install windows xp, other wise both operating systems will conflict.

How to install window xp over window vista as defult

not possible, unless you wish to dual boot the WIndows versions ... 'you will need to place the windows XP CD, boot from this CD and format your Hard Disk and then install windows xp.
make sure you have the windows xp licence key as the WIndows vista licence is not valid for windows xp.
last but foremost .. I strongly suggest you download the three key drivers from your manufacturer for 1) Sound Card. 2) Video Card 3) Network Card and have them available after windows is installed. As Windows does not detect all drivers for your computer. Then install either your current preference of Antivirus software or use AVAST (www.avast.com) which is freely available.
check your vendors website to confirm that there is drivers for your make and model laptop or pc.
good luck ... hope this helps...

I'm using vista home premium os, however the problem I enccounter is once you install software which is compatible for windows NT, xp home and windows 2000, the software the one I installed is not properly...

Yes, if you use a Virtual Machine, you can install the version of windows you wish to work with, install the software, and it should work just fine.
You will however need a genuine copy of windows to install in the virtual machine.
You may be able to find an image of the OS you need, or a snapshot of an OS, to load into the VM, it all depends on the type of VM you are going to use

Acer 3690-2710 Laptop: I currently have Windows Vista but I also like to install Windows XP. Is it possible? I tried and message came up that not compatible.

Yes this is completely possible in two ways.
(1) You can install both of these Operating systems Vista ans XP on one PC and when one boots the other is not cannot be booted unless you shut down the first one. Only one OS will run at a time.

(2)You can run XP inside Windows Vista. I have not yet tried vice versa but I find no reason why it is not possible. Remember that you will be running Windows Vista and you will be running Windows XP in a Window with full functionality. You have to use a technology called Visualization. One of the software that facilitates this is called Virtual PC 2007 by Microsoft and it is not difficult to use once you have the basic knowledge. With this software you have to create something called a Virtual machine of Windows XP.

When you install XP and Vista, such as I described in option (1) above, y ou have to divide your hard disk into two parts called partitions and there are labeled as C:, D:, E: etc to distinguish from each other. If you have already installed Vista in one partition usually C: partition you install Windows XP on the other partition. If you have only one partition then you have to create an additional partition to install Windows XP otherwise the message of "not compatible" will be displayed. Remember that you cannot install two operating systems on a single Hard Disk with a single partition on it. You have to break the hard disk down into partitions and install the Windows Vista and XP one by one. You can easily create partitions using the partition software like "Partition Magic".
Since at this point I do not know which option you would like to pursue from (1) and (2) therefore I cannot guide you any further and wish you
Good Luck!

Acer ASPIRE 6530

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. To reinstall your old operating system, you must have the original installation disc. Back up your programs and files, insert the installation disc into your computer, and then reinstall the old operating system. To regain the hard disk space used by Windows Vista, reformat the disk during the reinstallation process. After reinstalling your previous operating system, reinstall your programs and files.

You may want to consider upgrading rather than downgrading.

I need the steps to take to install windows xp on my pre-loaded vista.

Hello there.

Unfortunately, even though you have paid for a Vista license, this does not mean you can just install any copy of Windows XP. You need to purchase either Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional. If its a business system you would be better with Windows XP Pro.

The reason for purchasing is that the software is licensed to you, you may wish to contact Toshiba and see if they can swap your Vista license for a Windows XP license. The other option is picking up a copy of Windows in the shop and installing it yourself. This is no easy task unless you have experience doing so.

Please try either contacting Toshiba to see what they say, or see about purchasing your own windows XP.

Hope this helps.
