I recently traded in a pile of Pentax 645 gear for a D2H. Bit of a wrench, but really happy with the print quality and camera ergonomics, etc. However, have any other users any views on the D2H's rear LCD screen? On my version there seems to be an undue amount of 'flicker'; particularly if you preview pics involving lots of horizontal lines. When flicking through pics on the screen, for example, the white image number seems to be constantly flickering. Any thoughts anyone?
Try setting the video output option to NTSC (if it's on PAL). I know this sounds funny, but I have heard some rumblings about this option somehow creating a LCD flicker. If it doesn't work, I apologize in advance for wasting your time!
My camera is on NTSC and I haven't seen any flicker on the file numbers on the LCD.

The Pentax 645N is not a modular camera it has interchangeable lenses and uses film inserts. Removing the "top cover" should only be done by an accomplished repair person. I doubt anyone here would talk you through the procegure of dismantling a 645n. The Pentax 645 series of cameras is unlike a Mamiya, Hasselblad or Bronica which are modular cameras.
There is a service that specializes on small consumer level cameras like that : Camera Repair NYC Even if you can't find the screen on their website - contact them and they'll find it for you.
You need a new LCD display. I can replace the screen for $40, or you can buy the parts on eBay for about $25 and do it yourself if you are very handy, and very skilled with small delicate parts.You could send it to Pentax in Arizona, but they charge about $90 for an LCD replacement.If you just want to get rid of this camera, I also buy all Pentax Option a10, a20, a30, a40 cameras. The Sony P72 should produce excellent photos.
You stated that you had just purchased the camera which may be a clue to the problem.
With a film camera, you push the shutter button and bang you have a picture.
With a digital camera you push the shutter button and about 1.5 seconds later the focus locks and then 0.2 seconds still later the picture is captured.
Since you are not accustomed to that shutter delay, you are probably moving the camera.
Most digital cameras will let you push the shutter button down half-way to achieve focus lock. Then press the button the rest of the way down to take the photo (remembering there is a 0.2 second delay).
When you plan to snap that picture, be prepared to be perfectly still for 3 to 4 seconds.
Try taking some pictures with your camera sitting on something solid (or a tripod) and see if the photo quality doesn't improve.

One of the pages contains sample photos.
Select one of the photos and click on it.
When the photo finishes loading (large file), then RIGHT click on the photo and click "Save photo as".
Save it to your hard drive.
Print that photo on your printer. That will give you the chance to see how a known good photo, will print on your printer.
