How do i sign up with emusic to get my 50 free songs and 1 free auto book. from that company, along with a 2 week trail membership.

My advice is to put the question on the music site. Not with us. What good is any promise if it does not come from the site that would provide you with the music.
We only try to answer questions, We don't give away audio books, we don't give away music.

Trying to convert purchased music into format playable on philips player

If the songs were purchased from iTunes, forget about it. Philips has yet to make a player that is iTunes compatible. Unfortunately, if you have purchased music from another service, you would have to buy a DRM-stripper to make it compatible with Philips' non-DRM compatible models (of which they have several). You best bet is to buy Rhapsody's Mp3-Only service - the songs are DRM-free and will work with your Philips. You could also get songs from Limewire that are in mp3 format. If you are sure the songs are in mp3 format, and it is still giving you the error message:
The bit rate and sampling rate that you set for the mp3 format was possibly wrong. Since the 4GB player obviously isn't an HDD6330, I can't tell you what those rates are, but they are on the spec sheet that came with the player in tiny writing (or in the back of the manual sometimes - 50/50 with Philips). Go back into the Rip options in Windows Media Player and set the bit rate to 128. Once ripped, select the Properties for one of the song and find out the sampling rate. If the sampling rate is wrong, you can use a free program called Media Monkey to convert them to the right rate.

Another possibility: the songs that you initially converted were in CDA format. When you went to resync the songs that had been changed to mp3 format, the Philips read them as "already on the player" and ignored the format changes. Delete all the songs off the Philips and resync the songs that are in mp3 format. Good luck!

When i try to get 50 free songs it asked fore a credit card.

No way around that - you have to give out CC info, or you cannot enjoy the free trial. It's eMusic's policy.
