to leave a voice mail message on the Samsung Prostar;

To enter voice mail, press the Voice Message Key, the pass code will be set in default to 0000. Your mailbox will not function properly until you have put your voice message on. To do this, press option 0, followed by 5 followed by 7. When you have got the message you require press the #. If you regularly change your voice-mail message, you must press 3, delete the original message and reset the message followed by the #.

The recorded file comes up as a text document on my computer instead of a recording?  Do I need to download some sort of program on my computer?

Go to website www.fax.philips.com
Then click on Support and then click on the Sagem link.
Select Fax Philips and then PhoneFax Philips.
Select product from drop-down list.
Select User Manuals and then the appropriate version.
