Samsung rb1855sw bottom freezer/ refridgerator

Several problems with this unit. 1st when hydro goes out (which happens fequently in our area) refridgerator does not start up again.- have replaced the main pcboard, and in the process of replacing transformer ( although output readings appear to be constant at 9.5 and13.5 volts. so far not able to find problem. 2nd now the refridgerator although showing a reading of 1 degree celsuis internal temperature is actually 12 degrees celsuis. is it possible to find a repair manual for this Item to fix these problems. unfortunately samsung's support page will only let you set up a service call with 1 company in my area and with past experience with them ( another samsung product) I am unwilling to deal with them.

SOURCE: samsung rs2533sw fridge not cooling

it sounds like the refrigerator evap is frozen up causing the compartment to get too hot. shut the unit off and let it thaw out. then take the screws out of the cover to check the stryrofoam on the back side of the cover to see if theres broken spots on it causing the air to bypass the evap causing it to freeze. Theres two screws behind the light cover and two at the very bottom of the cover and two behind the decorative plugs about 1/2 way

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

You may just be catching the unit during normal defrost cycles. Next time, allow the unit some time to complete it's needed task. If you allow it 30-minutes, it should restart on it's own. The cycles are necessary to keep the unit working properly. The cycles will be more frequent as the weather warms. If you allow the unit 30-minutes and it does not restart on it's own, then there could be a problem. You might consult the owners manual for more details.

My Samsung refridgerators bottom freezer is not working. The top is staying at temp. The model # is RB1855SW. The compresser is working and the blower is working, but not blowing cold air. Any suggestion?...

If the compressor is working and the blower is working then there is only one thing that it could be. The refridgerant need to be recharged, which unfortunately can only be done by a service tech. If it does end up being something wrong with the compressor samsung usaullay backs their compressors for 5 years you will just need your original receipt.

Fridge not working

I've had this happen to my Kenmore 73503 several times. The 1st time took me a few hours to figure out what the problem was.

Basically the fridge is cooled from the freezer, so when you say your freezer is -2 degrees, it's a big tip off to the problem.

If you look very close in the freezer compartment at the back, you'll notice an opening with a little door at the top of the freezer compartment. This opening extends up the inside of the back of the fridge to the top of the fridge area via a square plastic tube.

Basically what happens in my fridge is the family loads the freezer to high especially at the top/back. This restricts or closes off the opening for the cold air to the fridge portion of the appliance ....resulting in a warm fridge, but cold freezer. Just remove the articles at the back of the freezer to correct problem. (It will take a few hours for the cold air to cool the fridge down)

Note: the temperature control unit in the fridge area controls the little door at the top of the freezer compartment, so if you haven't blocked off the opening, the next place to look would be either at the mechanical parts of the little door or the temperature control unit itself in the fridge

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

Whirlpool refrigerator w/ top freeezer

It has a plugged defrost drain. You may need to defrost for 24 hours with unit unplugged and doors open. UNPLUG FIRST!! f still leaks, you need to remove floor of freezer, then the back wall of freezer. Remove ice. At center rear under coils is the drain hole that is plugged up. Use hair dryer to melt ice. Pour hot water in this area to uncover drain. With hot water in area, you can put a 1/4 diam. hose or copper pipe in drain and blow into it while pressing down. It will slowly go through ice, clearing drain.
