I have a Minolta Dimage 7 , it recently failed to switch on with a low battery failure light on. I then recharged a good set of batteries which then allowed me to play the contents of my memory card and enter the setup mode but when I select picture mode or video mode it starts to click continuously the lcd screen is blank and I cannot control the camera at all. Any Ideas?

Yipes - seems that electronics have developed a nind of their own. Check with the manufacturer, if manual has no mention, of a reset switch or hidden code that will reset unit to factory defaults. Cross your fingers.

SOURCE: Camera won't turn on

Turn the camera off. Take out the card. Take out the battery. Put in the card. Put in the battery. Turn the camera on.

SOURCE: Konica-Minolta Dimage Z2 can't turn on

Well, I also bought the DiMAGE Z2, and my problem was similar: It worked for some time, but then it started freezing sometimes, not responding to any button I pressed. One time, it froze, shut off, and I wasn't able to power it up again. In short, the camera was still under its warranty, so I gave it to their lab and they fixed the problem.

You both are in luck. This sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:

The Dimage models that Sony is accepting for the recall repair are:
Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.

Zoom stuck at telephoto

I had this same problem with 2 different Minoltas. One the zoom stuck when the battery got too low and the problem was fixed when I recharged the battery. The other was a mechanical problem and I had to have it replaced. Luckily it was still under warranty. Good luck!

Shows low battery, even after installing new batteries. will not work.

The best batteries are rechargeable NiMh batteries of the ENELOOP (Sanyo) type.
These batteries have a very, very low discharge. Some other brands have such types too.

My dimage f100 is reading batteries that I know are full, as being low/empty. The screen pops on briefly and the lens moves in and out, but then it shuts down. Any suggestions?

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10 Battery Leak

It sounds like a short in the circuit board. Not worth getting fixed unless you find a local person. but first try puting a set of lithium batteries in. sometimes those last forever even when other batteries last less than 10 shots.
other wise try takeing the batteries out whenever you are done and see how long they last that way. then you will know if it is a short if they last a long time.

Hope That Helps,
Caleb

Konica Minolta DiMAGE 7i Digital Camera Problem

I just found a solution to my camera problem. It turned out to be the batteries. We purchases some Rechargable Duracel with a 2650mAh rating. After charging the batteries I put them in the camera and it started right up and was taking photos like when we first bought it. I have not been able to use the camera in almost 2 years and it turns out the problem was weak batteries.

So anyone that has a Minolta Dimage 7i and cant get it to turn on make sure you have at least 2650mAh rated rechargable batteries. The higher the mAh rating the better.

Hope this helps someone else. We are ecstatic that we can use our camera again. No more using my camera phone!!!

Very short battery life.

You could check the manual and/or the Tech support team. But in the main that is what cameras do - eat batteries. Best to get rechargeable sets and a charger I have 3 Li-ON batteries and a charger for my Oly 300 and six sets of 4 AA Ni-Mahs and charger for my E10

Even when I immediately switch power source (AC adapter or External Battery Pack) right after the low-battery icon started to blink, the camera operation is still locked.

In cases where the blinking low-battery icon appears indicating insufficient power, wait approximately 8 seconds until the LCD monitor display and the EVF become blank. Then switch to another power source or replace with fresh batteries.
