Your loader is probably worn out, or you jammed a disc into it. Take off the cover, then take off the loader mechanism internal cover to remove the disc.
I paid $250+ to get a loader rapaired professionally on a JA3ES and the repair did not last, I migrated to units with loader trays like the 20ES and the rare 50ES.
Probably the best thing to do is to get another similar deck since the prices have fallen on most of these units, they are readibly available with anything you could need for minidiscs on ebay. The decks are more popular in Europe and Japan than in the USA.
I recently had to buy a loader belt for a stuck loader tray on my 20ES, it will only work with the right sony band, your unit has no bands, so when the loader is bad you need to replace the entire loader mechanism.
Most MD parts are available on eBay Germany, most sellers routinely ship to the USA.
My machine spins the disc every time I try pressing Eject button. Then tells my the name of the disc and then there are 40 tracks at 106 mins 17 secs .... Any ideas ? Was looking for a reset
another thought based on someone elses answer; sometimes MDs are recorded in extended formats. it is possible tpo ahve a disc recorded in a long play format a particular player cannot read as not all MD decks handle all formats. So it might also be trying to read a format the machine cannot read. I have had this happen myself. My solution was to use another deck to play the music I wanted to a second MD deck and copy what I needed via RCA connection as thigital optical might run into format problems. This is a tretch but another guess based on my experience with these machines...

SOURCE: Spontaneous MD erasure
Well, depending how the content was recorded, there may be a slim chance to recover the audio. To me it looks like TOC was not written successfully, effectively deleting the TOC.
You can try TOC cloning with this 'blank' MD using another MD player, but your track markers will be lost during the cloning. If it works, at best you will end up with ONE long track. Then you can edit and reset your track markers.
It may be also be a good idea, to try the JE440 carefully with junk content to make sure it still works ok when writing TOC. You may have an intermittent problem too. I'd be very careful editing MD in this unit until it has been confirmed the TOC writing works ok. You may want to check the over-write head assembly and the cable that connects it. Sometimes these cables develop hairline cracks causing intermittend write action.
Check out www.minidisc.org forum for TOC cloning.
Good luck recovering your audio.

I have not had your problem myself, however, I am pretty sure the disc/s you are trying to play are not in the same readable format your MD player is, hence, the ejecting. I think you might have to either connect your player to a computer and re-initialise the system format/s and/or you may just have to (annoyingly) replace all of the MiniDiscs you have - which is not the best/rewarding way to go... quite irritating actually !!
Good luck to you though !!
SOURCE: Sony MDS-JE480...Inserting disc..C13 error READ
The
c13 error means that the player is unable to read the table of contents
(TOC) on discs any more.If it's an occasional error then you can try
switching to TDK blanks as they seem to be easier for flaky players to
read, but if it's happening regularly to all discs then your machine is
unrepairable due to a total lack of spare parts.
On the plus
side, there are millions of MD units now lying unused as folks have
moved on from them and as they're mostly worthless people don't
generally bother with trying to sell them. Almost every piece of MD gear
I own has come free of charge via my local FreeCycle and Freegle
groups. Whatever you do, don't buy a used player from anyone: they're
all getting on now and the TOC error is an age-related fault which may
occur at any time.
If you wish to see exactly what features other machines have then visit the superb equipment browser at minidisc.org.
The site is hosted but n longer maintained though so some information
is out of date, but it's still the most comprehensive source of free
information about MD available.
Sorry here's probably no hope for
your MDS-JE480, but I hope that my reply has given you a practical
alternative means of solving your problem.
