My remote is frozen in safe mode. How do I restore service?

Well the lock with the 1 is numlock. But the computer being frozen is a separate issue. You can try these quick fixes to get back to your system...
First, boot into Safe Mode (Repeatedly tap the F8 key while the system is booting, before the windows logo appears) A Menu will pop up, press Boot Into Safe Mode. From there you can try a SystemRestore to a known good date.

System Restore - Click Start -> Control Panel -> On the top right, type "System Restore" without the quotes. Click on "Restore system files and settings from a restore point". You can choose the recommended restore or a specific date.

The other option is to boot into "Last Known Good Configuration". To do this, use the F8 trick again while booting, but instead of Safe Mode choose "Last Known Good Configuration".

Please note that either of these run a risk of some data being lost from the time the restore point was made. You "shouldn't" lose anything but just want to make you aware.

Frozen mouse can be caused by software conflict.if you have installed a software recently, boot to safe mode by pressing your F8 key when windows is booting,choose boot to safe mode and uninstall the software or do a total system restore to a previous restore point.

try to reboot under Safe mode and then perform a scan disk and try to reboot in Normal mode if this would not work reboot in Safe mode again and perform System Restore and pick an earlier Date on which you do not have any problems with your notebook

Update the firmware:
- Launch the software.
- Connect the remote.
- Click "Downloads"
- Click "Firmware."
- Update the remote.

That will get the remote out of safe mode

1. Remove the battery, press and hold the 'Off' button, and re-insert the battery. The screen will say 'safe mode'.
2. Connect to the software and click 'Downloads' at the top of the screen.
3. Click 'Firmware'.
4. Update the remote

try turning it off then going into safe mode and restoring it to get to safe mode hold the power button on ps3 till you hear 3 beeps and it will turn off again then hold it again till u hear a double beep and thats safe mode try #2 and #4 on the safe mode screen

Unplug,replug to reboot,reset to factory setting.

1. In the software, click "Downloads"
2. Click on "Firmware."
3. Update the remote

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.

Remove the battery for a solid 2 minutes, then reinsert and see if that fixes it. if not 2. try updating the firmware with the remote in safe modeSafe Mode is a diagnostic tool in the Remote used for troubleshooting purposes. If the words "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode Requested" appear on the remote, complete the following steps:

1. Ensure the Remote is in "Safe Mode Requested" by taking out the batteries, and disconnecting the remote from the USB cable.
2. Hold down the Off button and plug the remote into the USB.
3. Continue holding down the Off button for another 10 seconds. The remote should then display the words "Safe Mode Requested".
4. With the unit in "Safe Mode Requested", re-install the firmware by clicking Support on your home page.
5. Click Firmware in the Downloads section and follow the online instructions to upgrade the firmware.
6. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click Update My Remote.
7. Insert the battery into the remote.
